Resveratrol Clinical Studies – What the Experts Say

Friday, September 25th, 2009
Vicki B Zerbee asked:

There have been dozens of studies and researches conducted that looked into the benefits of Resveratrol. Most of these Resveratrol clinical studies have found one thing- that this substance may be the miracle drug for the human race.

What are the most terrifying illnesses we can think of? Of course we can answer that debilitating diseases scare us most. Among these diseases are those that rank top in the list of death-causing conditions – like cancer, heart attack and stroke.

Clinical studies for Resveratrol on cancer

Although Resveratrol studies on humans are still just underway, cancer prevention in animals have already produced positive results, especially in the areas of skin and gastrointestinal tract cancers. Cancer is probably the most active area of research for Resveratrol today. This is because of the ability of Resveratrol to be both a catalyst and an inhibitor to the right cells. Clinical studies show that Resveratrol can distinguish between good and bad cells in the body.

Resveratrol clinical studies on cardiovascular ailments

Resveratrol has also shown promise in the prevention of heart diseases and stroke . Resveratrol , it seems can inhibit the blockage of arteries that can cause a heart or a stroke, depending on the arterial vein that becomes protected. Aside from that, Resveratrol also prevents the clotting of blood platelets, which is a factor in the suffering a stroke. Resveratrol also has components that assist the body in ensuring that no excess fat is accumulated in the body.

Aside from cancer and cardiovascular disease prevention, Resveratrol clinical studies are also showing positive results in the area of anti-aging and enhancing energy and vigor in the human body.

Resveratrol Cancer Research

Friday, September 25th, 2009
Mark Gavalda asked:

Due to the realization that human beings can never stay away from the sun completely, scientists are always in pursuit of new and better ways to reduce the risks of suffering from skin cancer, or skin damage due to regular exposure to UV rays, particularly its UVB element. After resveratrol was discovered and it’s anti-aging with the antioxidant properties were unveiled, scientists thought they could find out if the same compound would have chemo-preventive properties. It is believed that these properties would be effective in shielding against UVB skin damage.

Needless to mention, great exposure to UVB radiation will increase the risks of skin cancer. The research which was conducted looked at the effect of resveratrol if applied topically on hairless mice. The mice were then put under UVB exposure for 7 days consecutively. The study also looked at the effect of resveratrol on survivin. Survivin, which is what is responsible for cell division in the body, is normally absent in an otherwise normal human adult tissue but present in people suffering from cancer. This justifies the reason why most cancer therapies today target survivin.

The research findings showed that the resveratrol which was applied topically considerably lowered UVB exposure and helped control the protein expression of survivin. Resveratrol was found to be able to modulate numerous cell signals, which in turn protects the skin cells from UVB damages that are known to trigger cancer development. Resveratrol considerably hindered the increase in skin edema and thickness which are normally mediated by UVB.

With these study and many others conducted, it is reassuring to know that applying resveratrol skin creams can substantially help inhibit the development of skin cancer. Living at such a time and age when global warming and ozone deterioration are the order of the day, resveratrol might just be the miracle drug that people in this generation have been waiting for.

Resveratrol Side Effects – Are There Any?

Friday, September 25th, 2009
Dan R Morris asked:

Resveratrol’s side effects aren’t in the news much, or they’re typically called benefits. However, there are a couple side effects you should be aware of. To start, I should mention that you’ve been consuming resveratrol your entire life. The existence of it in pill form is no different (and often times less absorbed) than what you’re already consuming.

You Already Eat Resveratrol
Did you know that resveratrol is a powerful antioxidant found in abundance in cocoa (dark chocolate), cranberries, blueberries, peanuts, mulberries, grapes, grape juice, red wine and peanut butter? So when you start thinking about the side effects of resveratrol, begin by exploring what you know about the side effects of those foods.

Natural Blood Thinner
So the most serious side effect that is often overlooked is that resveratrol is a natural blood thinner. This isn’t a bad thing UNLESS you’ve just taken one of the top 3 resveratrol supplements we recommend, have popped the blood thinners given to you by your doctor and are about to undergo surgery. So before you have any medical procedure make sure you tell your doctor that you’re taking a resveratrol supplement.

For the 99% of the rest of your life, a natural blood thinner is one of nature’s health secrets. How long have you heard that it’s not bad to take an aspirin a day? Or even a baby aspirin per day? How often have you been told that reducing inflammation in the body is a good thing? How about red wine, ever hear that it’s a healthy drink? All of these things are natural blood thinners (though some would argue there’s nothing natural about aspirin).

Longevity
The other side effect of resveratrol is pesky longevity. Not only will you feel better now, have cleaner blood, more energy and more youthful skin – but you may have to live longer with those new attributes. Resveratrol is known as the fountain of youth since scientists proved mice on resveratrol had more endurance and lived a longer life.

Resveratrol FAQ’s Plus Resveratrol Testimonials – The Latest RezV Pure Feedback This Year

Friday, September 25th, 2009
Rob R Carmichael asked:

Some of the most frequent Resveratrol FAQ’s – frequently asked questions – mostly concern how effective this anti-aging supplement really is, what other attributes it offers and whether there are any resveratrol side effects.
So below, you you will find a breakdown of both RezV’s side effects and its effectiveness including a review of testimonials documented from consumer feedback forums.

Resveratrol Side Effects:

While not based on scientific evidence these side effects are purely anecdotal.

1) A buzzed light headed feeling, similar to a caffeine high or rush. 2) Insomnia that comes on quick and lasts for varying amounts of time. 3) Slight rise in blood pressure occasionally in the “high” range.
Resveratrol Effectiveness:

1) Weight loss: Medical reports suggest it activates your SiRT1 gene. This gene triggers a fight response within your cells which breaks down stored fat deposits and increases energy levels. 2) Resveratrol and Cholesterol: According to Pubmed – America’s Medical Peer Reviewed Journal – “statin and resveratrol in combination induces cardioprotection against Hypercholesterolemia (HC), which is a common health problem that significantly increases risk of cardiovascular disease”. 3) Resveratrol & Endurance: Science extracted from 3 years of research on mice concluded that taking resveratrol significantly increased Mitochondria found in muscle cells which are the organelles that generate energy, and therefor supplement weight loss attributes.

Resveratrol Testimonials:

Again, whilst there is no scientific data to back these testimonials, this is glance at how taking Resveratrol has helped individuals.

1) Increased ability of mental focus. 2) Decrease of sensitivity in bowels caused by Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS). 3) Endurance athletes (cyclists, runners, & swimmers) report its ability to increase distances and decrease overall times. 4) Decrease in both LDL cholesterol total cholesterol.

Resveratrol Dosage – How Much Should You Take

Friday, September 25th, 2009
Tony Woods asked:

Who would not want to have the gift of longevity? It is the law of survival — the best, the strongest, and the fittest live the longest and are able to enjoy life to the fullest. Such is the appeal of the new supplement, resveratrol. While it has been around for quite a number of years, resveratrol has only been put to tablet form in recent years. Researches, in fact, has still only been done on mice and insects. Even so, the supplement has already been made available for human consumption and has enjoyed popularity for its health benefits since it was launched. Resveratrol has enjoyed tri-media attention. The supplement is now widely availble in various brands in the internet.

Even with the proven benefits of resveratrol in preventing aging and heart disease, there is still a question as to how much resveratrol dosage to take. Studies are still being conducted on the optimal resveratrol dosage that could yield maximum results. At present, a safe dosage is recommended at anywhere from 20mg to 50mg per day. There are resveratrol supplements that are taken in 20mg tablets once a day.

There are also those that are taken in 15mg tablets twice a day. Taking the resveratrol pill in this dosage is believed to lengthen the resveratrol activation effect. In the case of resveratrol, more is not necessarily better. Volunteer studies show that mega doses of 500mg to 1000mg of resveratrol dosage everyday could cause adverse health effects. While these effects are not serious enough to cause permanent damage, experts still do not recommend that resveratrol be taken in such dosages.

What is Resveratrol and How Can it Help You?

Thursday, September 24th, 2009
Angela Philips asked:

What is resveratrol?

There is a lot of hype surrounding resveratrol. Is it all justified? It is found in fruits, berries, grapes and of course red wine, but what is it? It is an ingredient that is found in the skin of these fruit, berries and grapes in small quantities.

Over twenty years ago a scientific study which became known as the “French paradox” showed why the French, who eat unhealthy amounts of fatty foods have the lowest rate of heart disease and related illness in the western world. The answer was found in the red wine they were drinking, to be exact, in the resveratrol in the red wine.

What are the benefits?

1. Anti aging by rapidly replacing dead cells and helping to keep healthy cells healthy.

2. Boosting and supporting the immune system and helping to fight off illness and colds.

3. Helps to fight some types of cancers making them more susceptible to conventional treatment. These are just some of the numerous benefits.

Other benefits include lowering cholesterol and blood pressure and even looking after the heart.

It can be taken in capsule or juice form and to put into perspective the benefits you can obtain from capsules you only have to look at red wine. The amount in red wine is the highest amount you will find anywhere. Next to this supplements contain the equivalent of 40 glasses of red wine.

There is no need to drink 40 glasses of wine a day when you get all these benefits from a single pill and you cannot take too much of it. the more you take the greater the benefits. In fact some manufacturers are giving away free trials of resveratrol so you can discover it’s amazing benefits for yourself before you buy anything.

Resveratrol Capsules That Can Make You Healthier

Thursday, September 24th, 2009
Mark Marshall asked:

Resveratrol capsules is a chemical compound known as photochemical. These chemicals are that re found in these plants provides preventive measures for the body. It also protects us from certain diseases in human beings. More than 1000 known photochemical are found. The plants manufacture such chemicals so as to protect themselves. The natural resveratrol found functions as antioxidants which protects the cells and reduces the risk of occurrence of cancerous diseases.

Huge research and studies are made on this particular subject where it is found that the demand for supplements having resveratrol is high amongst people. Companies hence have come up with resveratrol capsules which fulfills your requirement for this natural product. These resveratrol supplements are popular and mostly are found in USA. This substance is extracted from the roots of Japanese knotweed or Polygonnum cuspidatum. These are medicinal plants that are used as an ingredient in folk medicine in parts of Asia for treatment of heart and liver disease, inflammation and skin and lipid problems.

Resveratrol capsules varies in concentrations from 10 to 200 mg of resveratrol. These are 5 to 100 times of the amount of resveratrol found in a 5-ounce glass of red wine. The various supplements offer various dosage amounts. The price ranges from $10 to $40 per bottle. This capsules are many times micronized which means reduction of the particle size of the compound. Companies claim this makes absorption of the capsules easier. Being a diet supplementary the resveratrol capsules are not required to pass the Food and Drug Administration. This capsules are sold all over the world as they provide great beneficial effects in humans.

Resveratrol triggers the genes inside the brain that deal with longevity. Hence these capsules helps you have a longer life.

Resveratrol Research – Stop! True Rez Facts You Must Not Miss If You’re Worried About Getting Old

Thursday, September 24th, 2009
Danny Fredricks asked:

In this article we are going to talk a bit about resveratrol research. It’s a pretty hot topic as many of you already interested in health, wellness and longevity already know. But – before we begin, let’s talk about who the audience for this particular article is best suited: If you are over 30, or not feeling as energized and “alive” as you once did regardless of age, or are simply interested in the cutting edge of science and research as it applies to turning BACK the hands of time, this article was written for you!

Let’s dig in with the MOST common questions our readers typically have about resveratrol studies:

What kind of REAL research has been done on resveratrol thus far?

Good question! The most profound science “stuff” done so far has probably been on mice and other four legged fuzzy friends. Essentially, when given supplementation of resveratrol, mice lived longer, were more active, developed FAR fewer diseases and in general, were simply much healthier than their peers who were not given anything.

Was it the resveratrol that worked…..or maybe it was just coincidence? Any other repeatable research to cite?

Yes, there is LOTS of research to support that the resveratrol was the factor. For example, mice given a topical carcinogen which would ordinarily develop into skin cancer, were resistant to developing the disease when first supplemented with resveratrol. While I’m NOT a big fan of trying to induce skin cancer in mice, the GOOD news is that they resisted it. (they are big fans of resveratrol obviously!)

Other experiments?

Fish, Flies and all kinds of other living organisms have been equally as lucky. How about in humans you ask? It’s the 25,000 dollar question…and while we’re always hesitant to cite science when it comes anti-oxidants and cancer research, there has been well documented, peer reviewed studies released that have opined that resveratrol has been very effective in the killing, or stunting the development of breast cancer in laboratory settings.

Is there more?

Lots more..and it would take many more lines than this article will allow to highlight it all. The truth is – we DON’T quite know for sure what the “end game” will be, but there are real scientists, right now…in MAJOR places, who believe that many of you reading this right now will be able to extend your life, in powerful and exciting ways, simply by taking a resveartrol pill. And that, is super exciting and well worth writing about!

Resveratrol Anti-Aging Protection

Thursday, September 24th, 2009
Adam Clark asked:

Resveratrol has been the subject of some of the most exciting anti-aging and cardiovascular research in decades. It’s been in the media spotlight recently on such TV programs as the famous CBS 60 Minutes interview, Barbara Walters, ABC news, Fox news, GoodHousekeeping magazine and more recently the Oprah Winfrey Show.

Resveratrol health benefits includes helping to protect the body against cardiovascular health problems and other age related diseases. It’s a high potency, all natural antioxidant with naturally occurring anthocyanadins and the flavanoids that helps to protect the body from free radical damage.

The Resveratrol that’s found in red wine (made from grapes and grape skins) is one of the explanations given for what’s become known as the “French paradox”. The French eat a diet that’s notoriously high in fat, the same as the Scottish people, yet the French have one of the lowest occurrences of cardiovascular disease, while the Scottish people have one of the highest. The answer that some researchers have given is that the French tend to drink more red wine (made from grape skins), which of course is abundant with Resveratrol. It appears to do a remarkable job.

Clinical studies have demonstrated that Resveratrol produces potent antioxidant activity. These actions may help to prevent free radical damage throughout the body and provide extra protective support to the cardiovascular system and the reduction of common age related diseases.

Resveratrol high antioxidant properties is not only effective in helping protect the body from cardiovascular diseases, but it is also believed to possess powerful anti-aging protection and it enhances healthy weight loss.

When the cells in our body uses oxygen, breaks down food, or is exposed to environmental pollution like cigarette smoke, exhaust from cars and trucks, etc. the body naturally produces free radicals which cause damage. Antioxidants act as “free radical scavengers” and helps to reduce, prevent and repair the damage that’s done by these free radicals. Free radicals may play a role in heart disease, cardiovascular disease, cancer and other age related diseases.

Antioxidants reduces these chain reactions by removing free radicals and reduces and inhibits the oxidation reactions. As a result, antioxidants protects against age related diseases, enhances cardiovascular health and helps to slow down the effects of growing old. And Resveratrol contains a high amount of powerful antioxidants that’s particularly effective in reducing the effects of these symptoms.

Resveratrol – Are You Still Confused About the Resveratrol Supplement?

Thursday, September 24th, 2009
Cindy Obama asked:

Lately, everybody seems to be talking about resveratrol and its benefits. Some have even gone to the extent of calling it ‘the anti-aging pill’ and ‘ultimate fountain of youth’. Has all the hype around the amazing potion left to in a fix? Has the endless list of claims that accompany it left you wondering of the reality behind this product? It is very important then, to clear out your doubts before you actually get started with resveratrol. Here is a complete guide for you.

1. It Is Completely Natural

Most supplements are feared by people on account of the risks of side effects involved with their use. After all, who would risk falling for a disease to cure another? But with resveratrol, things are different. This substance is completely natural and has zero risk of side effects. So you can get started with it without bothering about the ill-effects.

2. It Is An Effective Anti-Aging Formula

Especially formulated by the nature for this purpose, you couldn’t ask for more with this wonder food by your side. Enormous amounts of antioxidants present in it reverse the ageing process and keep age-related diseases at bay. So you not only live a longer life but also a healthier and beautiful one.

3. Choice Of Supplement Is Of Utmost Importance

If you thought that every other supplement would be capable of delivering the same results, think again. The reality is that the effects of a supplement depend largely on the quality of the product. Methods of storage and preservation and concentration of resveratrol are crucial in this respect. Also, the results are largely individual specific and what works perfectly for me might not be that effective for you.

A last word of advice out of my experience with various brands of supplements would be that no matter what you choose, do not compromise upon the quality at any cost.

Resveratrol – How to Avoid Cardiac Arrests Using the Resveratrol Supplement

Thursday, September 24th, 2009
Racheal Stone asked:

Resveratrol’s health benefits have been hugely publicized and have gained widespread acceptability across the globe since its discovery. The food is beyond doubt a magic elixir and holds a lot of promise for the health care segment.

From anti-aging potential to youth retention possibilities and immunity boosting capabilities- resveratrol has something in store for everyone. A comparatively new study delved into this potion’s cardiovascular benefits and got rave reviews. Read on to know how resveratrol could help you avoid heart attacks too:

1. The Potion Acts As A Great Cholesterol Filter

Resveratrol is known to separate out good cholesterol from the bad one and thus is capable of retaining the good cholesterol and flushing out the harmful portions from the body. This goes a long way to prevent blockage in arteries and preventing heart troubles like cardiac arrests and arteriosclerosis.

2. Insist On Checking Out The Storage Techniques

Resveratrol turns into a different isomer altogether on coming in contact with air or water. This in turn cannot be absorbed by the intestine and fails to reach our bloodstream. Now, for the substance to show results it is important that it reaches the bloodstream. This provides enough reason for one to check upon proper storage techniques like enteric coatings that go into preserving the component.

3. Look For Adequate Resveratrol Concentration In the Supplement

The food helps in boosting metabolism and immunity and thus wards off the risk of heart troubles by keeping the system clean and the body weight under check. But to attain this end, it is essential that the body gets enough concentrations of the component to meet the daily minimum requirement of 20 milligrams.

These simple tricks and a bit of attention to the quality and source of the product you choose would free you from the risk of falling prey to deadly cardiac arrests. Not to mention, it’ll provide the much needed boost to your overall health too.

Resveratrol and Red Wine Grape Extract Safety

Wednesday, September 23rd, 2009
Jennifer McIntire asked:

When polyphenols including Resveratrol, Quercetin, and red wine grape extracts are concentrated into a daily tablet equivalent to over 100 Bottles of red wine (400 – 1000 mg) or more, there is one immediate question, is it safe?

Indeed, scientists who study these nutraceutical supplements have and are continuing to use similar scientific research techniques to those used in the pharmaceutical industry to evaluate their potential health benefits and safety.

In 2002, the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences commissioned a report entitled, “Trans-resveratrol Review of Toxicological Literature.” A review of more than 200 referenced scientific studies were included, and the report stated that there were no reported adverse effects from Resveratrol on humans.

Animal studies have used the human-equivalent of over 1,000 mg (10 mg/kg of bodyweight) of Resveratrol, and have shown no toxic effects. Massive dosage studies were also performed on animals. “The no observed adverse affect level (NOAEL) was 300 mg/kg/day,” which would be a human dosage of 30,000 mg or 10 – 100 times the maximum concentrations contained in human high-concentration oral nutraceutical dosages.

Human studies also confirm the safety of Resveratrol in highly concentrated forms. Studies including those at Marywood University, University of Leicester (UK) and University of Michigan, etc. all found no significant side effects and no evidence of toxicity.

Personally, members of our company have taken 2,000 mg of Resveratrol and red wine grape extracts for extended periods with no side effects.

Many nutraceutical manufacturing plants are certified by the FDA (US Food and Drug Administration), TGA (Australia’s FDA Certification), NSF, USP (US Pharmacopia), etc. (be sure to check company’s websites for such information).

According to Dr. Joseph Maroon, in his recent book, The Longevity Factor, How Resveratrol and Red Wine Activate Genes for a Longer and Healthier Life (page 198) “Having seen both a pharmaceutical manufacturing plant and a dietary supplement facility I am assured that the manufacturing standards are virtually identical.”

High quality Resveratrol supplements have been on the market since the year 2000, and numerous patients, companies and doctors have reported their safety.

NOTE: Of course, any side-effects experienced as a result of taking Resveratrol, Quercetin, red wine grape extracts, or any other nutraceutical supplements should be reported to the manufacturer, and to your doctor.

Resveratrol Supplements For Anti Aging

Wednesday, September 23rd, 2009
Jose D Martinez asked:

Resveratrol, or trans-resveratrol is a chemical substance that is found in the skin of grapes in the form of red wine resveratrol and in Japanese knotweed, and is known for its potent antioxidant capabilities. It has been touted in the past decade as one of the super antioxidants with many health benefits. These benefits include:

Cancer fighting qualities Life extension and anti aging Increased physical endurance Overall cellular health Diminishing neuro-degenerative diseases.

It’s no wonder the world is excited about this little chemical substance. Aside from promising the proverbial fountain of youth, the real resveratrol benefit is increased health on a cellular level. But how does resveratrol work? What does it do on a cellular level?

The Mitochondria

One benefit of trans-resveratrol is its ability to increase the biogenesis of the mitochondria in every cell of our body. But first we have to understand the nature and the function of the mitochondria.

The mitochondria are organelles inside each and every cell in the body. It is considered to be the “furnace” of living cells. The mitochondrion’s most important role is that of creating ATP (adenosine-5′-triphosphate) which is the molecular substance that yields energy in terms of heat and cell action. By oxidizing oxygen and glucose, the mitochondria, through the action of cell respiration is responsible for the complex chemical reactions that create ATP.

It is a natural occurrence that through the mitochondria’s function, oxygen or other substances like lipids could end up being oxidized and converted into the cell-damaging free radicals. These substances can create cell membrane damage and DNA damage to the cell and to the very mitochondria themselves.

Resveratrol has the ability to promote optimal mitochondria function and biogenesis as well as contributing to the antioxidant role in protecting cellular DNA and cell membranes. This results in more efficient energy output for the body, and an increased longevity of the cells in the body. Unfortunately, the amount of resveratrol that is yielded in say a glass of wine is really not enough to yield quantifiable health benefits. And that is why most people are looking for the best resveratrol supplement.

Resveratrol and Antiaging

For a resveratrol supplement to be optimal in anti aging, it needs to be successful in not only promoting healthy mitochondria biogenesis and cell health, but it also has to be able to slow down the process of Glycation in the cells.    When human cells age, the proteins and DNA in the cells start creating damaging cross-links to each other. This cross linking, called Glycation, is responsible for the increased aging of the cells brought about by the resulting damaged protein molecules.

More and more studies are being done on resveratrol, resulting in more resveratrol supplements introduced into the market. The best anti aging resveratrol supplement has to be able to have a high potency and concentration to be effective, and it also has to be able to slow down the Glycation effect of cells.

Resveratrol Red Wine Supplements – Live Longer and Better

Wednesday, September 23rd, 2009
Troy A Shanks asked:

We humans would love to live for ever. In fact all of us would love to preserve our youth and vibrancy for as long as possible. These days there are millions of drugs, supplements and pills which promise to halt aging and related problems. However, most of them are riddled with side effects and a part of quick money making schemes. So, what helps in preventing aging related problems? The answer is resveratrol, a compound found in red grapes, red wine and peanuts.

Resveratrol is the reason why French even after eating a diet laden with fats are said to be one of the healthiest people in the world. French love to drink red wine with every meal and that’s the reason why they despite having such a fatty diet have minimal cholesterol and other problems.

Chemically speaking resveratrol is a polyphenol derivative. This chemical occurs naturally in the skin and roots of many plants and helps in protecting them against infections and invasions by various bacteria and virus. Though resveratrol occurs in almost all kinds of plants in miniscule quantities, it is particularly found in large quantities in the root of Japanese Knotweed and Muscadine. Resveratrol has antioxidant properties which can help in cleansing your arteries from all the plaque and debris which accumulates from the metobolization and intake of fats and cholesterol laden food. Healthy and clean arteries help in enhancing the functioning of the heart and help in healthy and proper blood circulation.

A number of researches and studies were conducted all over the world and people from Okinawa and Sardinia were observed since they consumed a high quantity of resveratrol containing products. The studies led scientists to believe that resveratrol can help in enhancing the life span and health in humans. People from Sardinia have a lot of red wine in their meals. As a result many men in this community live for more than 100 years which is why this community also holds the male centenarian world record. Here ninety year old males work like youngsters due to their daily intake of red wine.

However, the red wine that will produce such effects needs to have resveratrol in high quantities which is not really possible in the west. This is because most crops are bathed in insecticides and pesticides in the west. This inhibits the growth of resveratrol. Hence if the benefits of resveratrol are to be enjoyed then organic wine is the best bet.

Okinawa has people who live way beyond the standard 70 or 80 years of age. This is because their diet consists of knotweed which is a substance rich in resveratrol. In fact the residents of this place also have fewer incidences of heart problems and cancer due to their resveratrol rich diet.

Hence, resveratrol helps in enhancing the circulatory system, preventing cancer and other diseases and also enhancing the quality of life and the life span. It may not be a miracle drug but it certainly helps in leading a healthy life.

Resveratrol – Anti-Aging – So Why Did Dr Oz Recommended This Red Wine Capsule?

Wednesday, September 23rd, 2009
Kim Kertzel asked:

Show me someone who doesn’t want to feel better and look younger and I will show you someone who is eighteen! It’s true; we are all looking for the secrets to looking better and having better health and more energy. Basically, we are seeking anti-aging secrets. Well, Resveratrol – the anti-aging “miracle” is hardly a secret anymore, but if you are wondering why Dr. Oz recommended this red wine capsule, you need wonder no more. Here are the what’s and the why’s of resveratrol – the anti aging breakthrough recommended by Dr. Oz.

What is resveratrol? Resveratrol is an element found in red wine, and is now available as a supplement, in capsule form, that Dr. Oz has declared an anti-aging wonder. Resveratrol is astounding scientists and medical professionals all over the country for its promise and potential to increase the life span of people – and not just added years, but added years that remain healthy years, as well.

Why take the capsule form and not just enjoy some red wine every day? Well, for years, doctors, especially cardiologists, have been recommending red wine to patient; however, in order to get the full benefits that resveratrol offers, you would have to drink dozens of bottles of wine every day. Obviously, that is not plausible, so scientists devised a way to make a concentrated version of resveratrol. That is the supplement we have available today.

So, what potential does resveratrol have? It may:

Offer more energy
Improve skin health and appearance
Help fight diseases related to aging, such as diabetes and Alzheimer’s
Make you feel better overall
Improve cardiovascular health
Decrease the likelihood of getting cancer

With all these benefits, it’s no small wonder that scientists, medical professionals, and regular old people are excited about resveratrol. That is why Dr. Oz recommended Resveratrol – the anti-aging supplement based on the good stuff from wed wine.

Resveratrol – Anti Aging 2009 Fountain of Youth!

Wednesday, September 23rd, 2009
Rosemary Taylor asked:

What’s this Media Fuss all About?

Have you heard about all the fuss in the media lately talking about this amazing discovery that research scientists have found? The scientists have found an ingredient that could be developed into the “Fountain of Youth” and although this may seem like science fiction at the moment, it seems likely to be science fact sooner than we think. This wondrous ingredient is called Resveratrol and is being hailed as the “holy grail” in studies done into the aging process.

This has generated much excitement because research scientists are convinced that the trials done on mice and other mammals will prove conclusively for human beings as well. This will be a huge leap forward, from science fiction to science fact and could mean massive benefits to mankind with the fight to combat all the age related diseases and they are also saying it could end obesity. That in itself will probably be one of the most outstanding breakthroughs of the century let alone 2009.

Resveratrol Research Results

What the scientists discovered was that many plants contain a very strong anti oxidant, plants like raspberries, blueberries, red grapes and acai berries for example but on closer studies they found that the red grape contained very high concentrations of this substance in the skin and it’s called Resveratrol. Researchers are now rushing to complete studies on human trails to see if this ingredient really can do for humans what it has done for mice and other mammals.

This research was funded by the National Institute on Aging and the studies found that mice given the ingredient Resveratrol resulted in them living longer and being much more athletic than mice that had not been given it. So now you know why this ingredient is in such demand but unfortunately, you would have to drink hundreds of bottles of red wine a day to get sufficient amount of the ingredient for your body to benefit. Well, we all like to have a drink of wine but hey!

One of the other really positive things that came out of the research was that the mice and other animals given high doses of Resveratrol and overfed, did not gain weight and actually made them much more athletic. This means they were getting the benefits of reduced calories but without feeling hunger. Imagine what this could do for the epidemic of obesity in the western world!

Could this really be the anti aging 2009 fountain of youth? This is what the research found:

- It can prolong life
- It slows down the aging process
- It protects against heart disease
- It help in the reduction of weight
- It helps to keep the skin supple and youthful for longer
- It improved greatly, levels of energy
- It fights against Cancer
- It can help to fight type 2 Diabetes
- It can helps to prevent Alzheimer’s disease

This is a major and very exciting scientific breakthrough and everyone is holding their breath waiting for the results of the human trails but in the meantime supplements have been produced to give you the benefits but without having to drink huge quantities of red wine and end up with the hangover from hell.

Should You Buy Resveratrol Supplements?

Wednesday, September 23rd, 2009
Harry J. Andersohn asked:

Ever since 60 Minutes profiled two scientists who had discovered and isolated the active component in red wine responsible for so many of its health benefits, there’s been a downright feeding frenzy among people who want to buy Resveratrol.

(This has led to a whole host of problems for people who want to buy Resveratrol supplements, and it means that you have to be extra careful in where you order it from. But I don’t want to get ahead of myself — we’ll cover this important topic in a minute.)

Resveratrol supplements are, in fact, one of the hottest supplements on the market today. It’s certainly not hard to see why. According to the story that ran on 60 Minutes, studies showed that mice who were given Resveratrol supplements actually seemed to reverse in age.

Now, I’m not saying that they actually got younger — that would be silly. But if you watch that video (and I’ll tell you where you can see it in a second) you’ll see that they gave them entire batteries of tests and the ones who were given Resveratrol performed better on physical and mental challenges across the board.

This actually led to a lot of very reputable news organizations extolling the benefits of Resveratrol, and even caused a major U.S. pharmaceutical company to buy out the company of the researchers who discovered the component.

So yes, Resveratrol is a pretty big deal, and if the scientists who worked on isolating the component are right — and many studies suggest that they are — this could be a major breakthrough for anyone who wants to look and feel younger, but who doesn’t have hours upon hours to work out at the gym every day.

There are lots of other benefits that have been reported with Resveratrol that go beyond just things like weight loss and increased physical stamina. A lot of people say that it’s also helpful for increasing metabolism, improving the way your body deals with cholesterol, and it may help protect you against cancer.

Okay, now, with all of this evidence and all of this interest in what Resveratrol can do for you, it might seem like a no-brainer to go out and start taking it, right?

Well, that’s for you to decide. But what I will say is that if you want to be among the many thousands who are doing it, it’s very important that you stick with a Resveratrol supplement that you know is high-quality.

Resveratrol Information

Robin Brain asked:

Resveratrol is the most recent ‘cold or fresh’ innovation in an increasing directory of natural antioxidant elements released by our crucial fellow citizens on this earth, plant life. Let’s listen to it for the plant life! When will we study that one can not hit Nature’s arrangements, changed more than billions of years, when it move towards to combating infections? The whole thing needs to be at the apex of the evolutionary mound; to assured endurance of the species & endurance needs fight, in one manner or another.

When human being are well feed, equally bodily & morally, we are able to stay alive mostly assaults from attacking bacteria, but when we are sprint downward we look to give way with no trouble.

Thus also with plants: – Resveratrol in the grape (Vitis vinifera) is originating in the ancestry, kernels and pursues but greatly high attentiveness are establish in the skin of the grape, which defends it against fungal & germ molests. Resveratrol is located in much high measures in red wine compare to white, due to there being not a great transaction if it in the ashen casings, which are superfluous before vinification.

Supplementary groceries resource of Resveratrol consist of peanuts & mulberries & it is locate in fairly big quantities in the dehydrated ancestry & stalks of the Japanese Knotweed {Poligonium cuspidatum}, available mostly throughout the health shops. The Japanese Knotweed is generally utilized, in conventional Chinese & Japanese drugs, as a stimulant for the movement.

In reality, the comparatively elevated wine drinking along with the French appears to decrease occurrences of cardiac infection, in spite of their love of high-quality foodstuff. Although this French inconsistency appears to have various estimable health reimbursements, it doesn’t look like to secure them against liver infection, which might be awful information for all of you about to plug up your 3rd glass this sunset. The apparent knowledge between scientists who have calculated the favorable results of Resveratrol speaks that 2 glasses every day are best.

Resveratrol also have antiproliferative measures, reducing cancer cell & tumors expansion, & is concerned in reducing an imperative enzyme in tumors expansion. This quick modest amalgam also decreases statement of signs on blood pots, arouses the immune system in hostility cancer, & reduces deteriorations of LDL-Cholesterol &, if that were not sufficient, also is an excellent anti-inflammatory. Examine carry on & additional helpful uniqueness is being exposed every day.

Resveratrol 60 Minutes Show and What it Revealed

Wednesday, September 23rd, 2009
Regina Resnick asked:

The Resveratrol 60 Minutes show segment is actually an update on a piece that was done nearly two decades ago. In that show 60 Minutes investigated how the French ate diets high in fat, and drank tons of red wine, but had lower rates of heart disease when compared to Americans. Since that time, it has been pretty much accepted that moderate consumption of red wine can be beneficial.

Today, the discussion of red wine is again coming to the surface after a Resveratrol 60 Minutes story that was done in January 2009 highlighted the fact that an ingredient in the wine could be responsible for not only the good health of the French, but possibly being able to fight off age related diseases and extend life.

Obviously, that is a very bold claim but the piece interviewed two doctors that have been studying the health benefits of Resveratrol which is found in red wine and the skin of grapes. It is also found in several other foods but the story focused on these items.

Resveratrol is said to protect plants from invasion by damaging bacteria and fungi and is commonly considered a high powered antioxidant.

Two of the doctors interviewed for the 60 Minutes story had such belief in the future of Resveratrol that they started a Cambridge, MA biotech company called Sirtris to develop synthetic drugs based on the compound.

In the piece, Dr. David Sinclair, was doing genetic studies at Harvard University. He tested thousands of compounds to see if he could identify one that would help to activate the body’s Sirtuin or “longevity gene” and he got a hit with Resveratrol.

The story goes into good detail about how resveratrol impacted the health of test animals as well as humans that had diabetes.

According to the studies, it was clear that this compound could help slow down common health ailments associated with both obesity and old age. It is said the human tests on cancer patients are currently ongoing.

Resveratrol – Can We Really Delay Aging With Resveratrol Supplements?

Wednesday, September 23rd, 2009
Ashley Hilton asked:

Resveratrol works as a miracle for those who look older than they actually are. Not only does it help you look younger but also make you feel younger from inside. Resveratrol is known to be the biggest discovery since antibiotics because of its nutrition value and anti aging properties. It is one of the best anti aging compounds known to man.

Scientific community took notice to this compound’s miraculous properties in early 1990s, though it was discovered decades before. It was found to be present in red wine which was responsible for good health of those who drank red wine regularly. Consuming Resveratrol regularly in any form is good for delayed aging and overall health.

If you look older than you are, you must have already tried a few chemical based anti aging products which are good for hiding wrinkles. These over the counter drugs and creams just hide your wrinkles without treating them.

Resveratrol’s anti aging action is quite different. It is one of the richest sources of anti oxidants. When we take anti oxidants; our body’s free radical loss is quickly replenished. Free radical loss is a continuous process which can be negated only if we keep replenishing the loss as quickly as possible. This is exactly what is taken care of by this wonder compound very effectively. It is a very rich source of other nutrients as well therefore your other internal organs also start working in perfect order. After a few weeks of using this miracle supplement your over all energy level is remarkably enhanced.

Resveratrol As an Antioxidant

Wednesday, September 23rd, 2009
Elmis Stroms asked:

They’re everywhere: you see them on TV, learn about them in magazines, and read them on labels of food or food supplements. The word ‘antioxidant’ has been placed in nearly every new food product since the early 00s. Most of us just buy the stuff thinking, “Hey this must be healthy” without knowing the effects and how it helps the body. But what is it? Where does it come from? And most importantly, what does it do?

As these concerns rise, more and more companies are investing on products which can delay aging, make one look healthier and can produce antioxidants. Resveratrol, an antioxidant compound found in grapes, is not a newbie in this market.

The word antioxidant originally referred to a compound that prevented the consumption of oxygen. Prior to its use medically, the term was used industrially. There were extensive studies of antioxidants to prevent metal corrosion, the vulcanization of rubber and the fouling of internal combustion engines. Research in biology turned focus to their use in preventing oxidation in unsaturated fats which causes rancidity. The identification of vitamins A, C and E as antioxidants revolutionized the field and led to the idea that antioxidants are important in the biochemistry of living organisms.

There is a paradox in biology, particularly with the metabolism of almost all complex life on Earth. Almost all animals require oxygen to exist and survive. Oxygen on the other hand is a highly reactive molecule that harms healthy cells by the production of reactive oxygen species. In consequence, organisms evolved to have a complex system of antioxidant metabolites and enzymes that work together to prevent damage to cellular components such as DNA, lipids and proteins. Antioxidant systems in animals do not eliminate oxidants entirely. Rather, they keep oxidants in the body at an optimum and safe level.

Antioxidants are molecules that slow or prevent the oxidation of other molecules. Oxidation is a chemical reaction that transfers electrons to an oxidizing agent. These reactions produce free radicals which start chain reactions and destroy healthy cells. Low levels of antioxidants in the body or the inhibited production of antioxidant enzymes cause oxidative stress which may damage or kill healthy cells. Oxidative stress also indirectly causes cardiovascular disease. Low density lipoprotein (LDL) triggers the process of atherogenesis which results in atherosclerosis and finally cardiovascular disease.

The brain is the most vulnerable to oxidative stress injury. This is because of its high metabolic rate and massive concentration of polyunsaturated lipids which are targets for lipid peroxidation. Antioxidants are often used as medication to treat some forms of brain injury such as traumatic brain injury and stroke. Antioxidants prevent oxidative stress in neurons and prevent neurological damage. Studies are being made to see if antioxidants are possible treatments for Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis.

Scientists speculate that because resveratrol has highly hydrophilic and lipophilic properties, it can provide more protection than other well known antioxidants such as vitamins C and E. Hydrophilic antioxidants react with oxidants in the cell cytosol and the blood plasma. Lipid soluble antioxidants protect cell membranes from lipid peroxidation*.

“Lipid peroxidation refers to the oxidative degradation of lipids. It is the process whereby free radicals “steal” electrons from the lipids in cell membranes, resulting in cell damage. This process proceeds by a free radical chain reaction mechanism. It most often affects polyunsaturated fatty acids, because they contain multiple double bonds in between which lie methylene -CH2- groups that possess especially reactive hydrogens. As with any radical reaction the reaction consists of three major steps: initiation, propagation and termination” – Wikipedia

Antioxidants are commonly found in fruits and vegetables. Polyphenolic antioxidants are found in tea, coffee, soy, nuts, fruit, olive oil, chocolate, cinnamon, oregano, and red wine. If you notice, most of the foods containing polyphenolic antioxidants are common in the French diet such as nuts, chocolate and red wine. One particular polyphenolic antioxidant is resveratrol which is commonly found in red wine and peanuts.

Being an antioxidant, resveratrol can cancel out the cell-damaging effects of free radicals. People who consume foods with resveratrol have a lowered risk of heart disease and neurological disease. There is some evidence that resveratrol, being an antioxidant, can prevent macular degeneration, suppressed immunity due to poor nutrition, and neurodegeneration. The French consume red wine every meal. The more formal meal courses actually have a different glass of wine for every course! And by tradition, red meat and fatty foods are paired with; you guessed it, red wine.

Other sources of resveratrol include grapes, peanuts, eucalyptus and mulberries. The amount of resveratrol present in wines depends on how long the skins of the wines were in the fermentation process before being sieved out. Resveratrol functions as a natural guard against bacteria, fungus and infections in plants. Since fungus cultivates at lower temperatures, grapes grown in colder places tend to have more resveratrol in the skin than those grown at warmer climates.

Aside from diet related ailments, cells become damaged even while exercising. During intense physical activity, the body consumes ten times more oxygen than at rest. This results in an increased production of oxidants which results in damage that causes muscle fatigue during and after exercise. Post-exercise oxidative stress also triggers an immune system response and brings about the inflammatory process. After cellular damage in the muscle fibers have been repaired or replaced by new tissue, the body becomes stronger. Resveratrol speeds up this healing process by increasing the body’s metabolic rate.

Resveratrol, as discussed in the earlier paragraphs, has antioxidant qualities. It protects life against apoptotic stimuli (a DNA-damaging agent) and ischemic damage (tissue damage due to lack of oxygen and nutrients). In the face of oxidative stress, Resveratrol combats other forms of aging such as progeria or rapid aging in children, vascular oxidative stress, asthma, endothelial dysfunction and transplant rejection. It even protects plants against UV radiation! Now imagine how much more Resveratrol can do to humans!

The component in Resveratrol that gives it its antioxidant qualities is polyohenol. Unstable molecules called free radicals cause oxidative damage to our tissues and as well as our cells by destroying their integral parts (DNA, membranes and proteins). When these cells are attacked, the organs which host these cells can also malfunction and health complications will eventually ensue. Polyohenol counter the free radicals’ attacks even in the face of pollution, breathing, UV radiation and other things which can generate oxidative stress.

Resveratrol Benefits That You Have to Know

Tuesday, September 22nd, 2009
Hillary Scott Wallace asked:

According to various researches, resveratrol has a lot of health benefits including improvement of overall well being and protection of the body against health concerns related to high fat diets. Resveratrol benefits also include efficiency in weight loss, making the product one of the most sought-after weight loss products in the market today.

Resveratrol can be found naturally in peanuts, grape juice and red wine and there have been laboratory experiments done in mice and it has been found that a high fat diet together with resveratrol supplements show no sign of fatty livers or insulin resistance, which are very common for people who have high fat diets. Furthermore, resveratrol has been proven to help in providing higher energy levels in the body. These health benefits have been recognized as the origin of the French paradox wherein French people drink wine in their every meal. Afterwards, it was discovered that French people are less prone to heart disease.

Drinking a glass of wine regularly is just the same as having a .5% of resveratrol dosage. Though this experiment was only performed on mice, the supplement can be taken by humans safely. Both concentrated doses and supplemental doses can be great sources of various health benefits. Eating a high fat meal each day can eventually build up cholesterol levels in the body and decline the health. Resveratrol has been proven to help improve overall health even with high fat diet. This is due to the fact that the benefits provided by resveratrol are similar to the benefits of restricting the calorie intake. Resveratrol keeps the skin and the heart healthy and prevent the process of aging. This natural antioxidnat is a vital key in delaying the aging process and produce a blockage against diseases.

It is important to take the right resveratrol dosage in order to get its health benefits. A lot of people use the supplement for weight loss because it helps the body lessen the number of fat cells and at the same time increase the amount of muscle mass. Resveratrol acts as an appetite suppressant that provides people with a natural way of losing weight. Another benefit of resveratrol is its ability to protect cells from damage and it can also protect and repair the body from further damage and illnesses such as cancer.

Resveratrol: Red Wine Extract Has Been Linked to Life Extension

Tuesday, September 22nd, 2009
David Barnet asked:

Recent studies suggest that resveratrol, a red wine extract, may be able to extend our life (study – D Sinclair of Harvard Medical School in Boston and colleagues at the University of Connecticut and Brown University in Rhode Island – published in July 13 issue of Nature).

The contolled study showed that fries and worms fed on resveratrol live 30% longer than those that were not fed resveratrol. Because all creatures share many biological processes there seems to be compelling evidence that this red wine compound may also extend life in humans.

Before these studies resveratrol was intrinsically linked to protection against heart diseases mainly because of the high concentration of antioxidative parts of this compound. However, the new findings seem to be unrelated to the antioxidative properties of resveratrol and so life extension must come from a different property of the extract. The most compelling theory is that resveratrol may have a calorie-restriction mechanism that activates proteins called sirtuins similar to sir2. Sir2 is an important protein which is an important regulator of the aging process.

Unlike actual calorie restriction, resveratrol has no negative impact on fertility. Actually, evidence suggests that resveratrol improves fertility.

Currently researchers are trying to duplicate the same results in mice, to show that mammals too benefit from resveratrol.

By consuming resveratrol supplements, we may gain the following protective benefits:

• decreased risk and severity of strokes

• Reduction in severity of Alzheimer’s disease

• Improved skin healing

• Protection against pancreatitis

• Protect against diabetic kidney disease

• Protect against liver damage

• Protect against osteoarthritis

• Suppression of appetite and in turn weight control or loss

• Improved sperm production

• Inhibition of cataract formation

• Inhibit proliferation of the herpes simplex virus

Resveratrol Miracle

Tuesday, September 22nd, 2009
John Sims asked:

The natural drug, Resveratrol is becoming very popular and being featured on sever TV shows for its many health benefits. It has the potential to fight three types of disease: Alzheimer’s cancer and cardiovascular disease. Today, these diseases fill the minds and bodies of the modern man.

Resveratrol is a type of antibiotic plant called phytoalexin, and it is produced when plants are attacked by fungi or bacteria. It is found naturally in the skin of red grapes. This finding has lead wine lovers and scientist to believe that drinking red wine may help in fighting cancer and improving overall health. It was first taken from hellebore roots back in 1940 and it was not until 1192 that is was associated with the positive effects it had on reducing cancer and improving cardiovascular health.

Some studies have stated that moderate consumption of wine reduces death rates by up to 40% each year. It is not certain as to whether this is due to Resveratrol’s function, but scientists claim that consuming wine by itself does not provide the body with enough this substance to be an outstanding positive effect.

Its effects of have been tested successfully on rodents and cell cultures. On the rodents’ tests, has acted as agent fighting against cancer, increasing the function of the cardiovascular system, lowering blood sugar.Iit has removed brain plaque and increased the overall life span.

Resveratrol can possibly be treatment for cancer, Alzheimer’s, spinal cord injuries and cardiovascular disease.
It can also have the following benefits:

1. Better athletic performance
2. Protection from radiation exposure
3. Increase longevity
4. Protect from smoke damage

As a natural defense product found in plants, this substance has many health benefits when it is taken as a supplement. Nutritionists strongly urge eating foods that contain Resveratrol, especially those people who are recovering from an illness or who are at risk with a weakened immune system. People who are healthy will also see many benefits, including a better autoimmune response and improved metabolic rates.

As a natural product, Resveratrol can be a dietary supplement that takes the place of those more expensive and potentially dangerous prescriptions that have unknown side effects. With all of its health benefits, is one of the most beneficial antioxidant vitamins available today.

Resveratrol – Nature’s Miracle Anti-Aging Medicine

Tuesday, September 22nd, 2009
Marcy Charles asked:

Nothing in this world is as unavoidable as aging. We are all very aware that every human being presently living on this planet will eventually age and die. That’s a certainty. But recent research has given us hope that aging as we know it may not be as inevitable as we believe. Aging is a biological process after all, and as such, it is something which we can slow down and control – once we know how.

Enter the “miracle” anti-aging remedy resveratrol. Resveratrol belongs to a family of compounds called polyphenols. It’s found in grapes, berries, peanuts, green teas and some nuts. A particularly high concentration is found in red wine. One of the most amazing properties of resveratrol is the fact that it is a very high anti-oxidant. So what has all this got to do with anti-aging, you may ask?

The dreaded aging process in humans

A great deal of research has been done in recent years on the aging process in humans. Studies have shown that our genetic makeup is responsible for the pace of aging. Our genes preserve our health, vitality and prevent disease. And one of the most important reasons for aging is DNA damage. This can be caused principally through the onslaught of cell-mutating chemicals or oxidants. Oxidants severely damage DNA and other components inside our cells; but generally, in a healthy body, our genes are able to combat DNA damage, thereby prolonging our health – and our lives.

But what impact does resveratrol have on this process? Many researchers believe that sirtuin genes are responsible for repairing our DNA, and in 2003, a handful of sirtuin-enriching compounds were discovered. Resveratrol was found to be the most potent among these. Growing evidence has indicated that resveratrol also influences many genetic pathways, which could be just one of the many factors responsible for its ability to retard the aging process and prolong life.

In various laboratory experiments, resveratrol has been shown to enhance the vitality and significantly extend the lifespan of every living species it has been tested on; specifically fish. Laboratory studies show that the maximum lifespan of fish was increased by almost 60 percent–the equivalent of a human living to 194 years!

Resveratrol shown to increase lifespan in laboratory tests

Furthermore, studies done with “middle-aged” “fat” lab mice that were administered with high doses of resveratrol showed that not only were they more physically active and healthier, but that they also lived longer. Amazingly, resveratrol reduced the risk of death by 30 percent in these subjects. Mice treated with resveratrol were found to be leaner, more energetic, and their muscles consumed oxygen more efficiently-this meant that they developed a greater capacity to generate energy. Incredibly, the mice could also run twice as far without getting tired. It showed that resveratrol may also prove to be an amazing performance-enhancing medication.

But this is by no means the end of this “miracle” compound. Evidence indicates that not only can resveratrol be a potent anti-aging remedy, but it may also protect against aging-related diseases such as heart disease, cancer, diabetes and Alzheimer’s–the diseases usually responsible for reducing lifespan. At present, there is ongoing research in laboratories around the world to further study the miraculous anti-aging and healing properties of this amazing substance.

What would be an effective dosage of resveratrol in humans?

Some people automatically assume that drinking more red wine will be beneficial to their health and longevity. But there is simply not enough significant concentration of resveratrol in a single glass of red wine. It would take approximately 1,000 glasses of red wine to consume an effective daily dose of resveratrol! Fortunately supplements of concentrated resveratrol are now freely available.

How Much and When Should You Take Resveratrol Supplements

Tuesday, September 22nd, 2009
Dan R Morris asked:

It wasn’t until the early 1900’s did scientists begin learning about vitamins and minerals. Dr’s and Scientists knew malnutrition could be a problem and also knew that some foods helped more than hurt. But without microscopes and magnifying glasses – what could you really know? Imagine what we’ll know we can see the inside of a quark?

But knowing about them and their benefits doesn’t mean that supplements are always good for you. Did you know that smokers who supplement with beta carotene have higher risks of lung cancer? Did you know that people on blood thinners shouldn’t be taking a resveratrol supplement, which is a natural anti-inflammatory and blood thinner?

In fact, if you eat a pretty good diet of veggies like carrots and tomatoes, chances are you don’t really need to supplement with Vitamin A and C. How about Vitamin E? If you’re already eating a lot of fish, whole grains and nuts – no need to take extra Vitamin E.

So take stock of your habits, your day, your age and really figure out what you need. If you don’t get outside much, Vitamin D sounds like a good idea. If you’re not drinking much dairy or eating much broccoli, the chances are a calcium supplement will really do you well.

Now if you’ve got ailments like poor vision, arthritis, heart problems, or fibromyalgia – a good multivitamin containing all the antioxidants, vitamins, minerals and herbs you can get would be just what the Dr. ordered.

But don’t just go running to the store to get the one on sale. The method by which the supplement delivers the nutrients makes all the difference. Pills and capsules are traditionally 2 – 20% absorbed by the body. Powders and liquids in quantities larger than single servings get oxidized before they get in your body.

So look for a supplement that’s individually packaged like powders in foil packets or pills in blisterpacks. Look for one that is both isotonic and/or effervescent and includes a good smattering of vitamins and minerals.

Resveratrol and Cardiovascular Health

Tuesday, September 22nd, 2009
Elmis Strom asked:

It has been previously mentioned how Resveratrol was believed to be found only in red wine. Well, red wine is notorious for its contributions in keeping one’s heart healthy, and Resveratrol is known to have multi-modalities of heart-tending actions.

Have you ever heard of “The French Paradox”? If you haven’t, well, it is a widely used expression to mean the direct association between alcohol consumption and fatty diets. See, most French people smoke and their diets contain high levels of saturated fat. However, they are also lovers of red wine, in fact a part of their daily drill, and red wine is known to protect our bodies from cardiovascular diseases. The secret is in their consumption of red wine which contains resveratrol. Resveratrol is a phytoalexin produced by some plants to ward off pathogens like bacteria or fungi. Recent advances in technology allow Resveratrol to be synthesized chemically.

Since red wine already contains high levels of Resveratrol, what makes this cardiovascular disease prevention all the more rapid is the presence of flavonoids, working hand in hand with Resveratrol.

Red wine contains more Resveratrol than regular grape juice because of the fermentation process it undergoes. Grape skin contains the highest natural concentration of Resveratrol. Other sources of Resveratrol include peanuts, eucalyptus leaves and Japanese knotweed with Japanese knotweed being the primary source for supplement extracts.

Resveratrol is a powerful antioxidant which means it rids the body of harmful free radicals that might cause cancer. Aside from that, it also helps keep cancer cells and phytoestrogen from fast food at bay. But perhaps it’s most beneficial effects include the strengthening of cell tissue and lean muscle. In relation to this of course is the cardiovascular system.

The cardiovascular system for the transport of nutrients, gases, hormones, blood cells, nitrogen waste products and so on, to and from cells in the body to keep it in homeostasis. In layman’s terms, it is responsible for the circulation of blood around the body. The cardiovascular system is also very susceptible to disease. Heart disease in particular is the leading cause of death in the United States, England, Canada and Wales and is quickly becoming a pandemic due to the nature of our daily dietary consumption. Statistics show that heart disease claims the life of one person every 34 seconds in the United States alone.

Aside from better muscular function, resveratrol also serves as a blood thinning agent, minimizing system damaging clots that form because of impurities in blood. This in turn helps in avoiding damage to the blood vessels that are common in occurrence when blood clots break free and circulate.

Resveratrol is indeed a wonderful discovery in the field of medicine. Although its benefits are certainly worth noting, its effects are best supplemented with proper exercise and a controlled diet. Taking resveratrol through wine and supplements while maintaining or perhaps even maximizing your diet will not assure you the benefits. Neither will it benefit if you overcompensate your existing diet with a bigger dosage. Everything in life is best in small doses and this includes the most nutritious food, and the best medicine.

There is a big difference in cardiovascular health protection among alcohol drinkers. When those who preferred liquor, wine and beer were cross referenced, studies found out that those who preferred wine lived the longest lives. The answer is quite simple: liquors and beers do not contain as much Resveratrol as wine, especially red wine. Also, liquors and beers are harmful to the gastrointestinal tract; they abuse our livers and kidneys when not taken in moderation.

However, there are also confusions regarding this. A lot of people still associate the presence of Resveratrol with other alcoholic drinks (not just wine). And that is the reason why the more recent pills and capsules developed to compact Resveratrol were flooded with information on how Resveratrol originally comes from grapevines and not from the alcohol content.

Resveratrol – Are You Missing These 5 Trends in the New Resveratrol Anti Aging Miracle?

Tuesday, September 22nd, 2009
Racheal Stone asked:

Resveratrol has found many admirers since the birth of the French paradox and the list is ever increasing owing to the marvelous anti-aging avenues that the food promises. If you too wish to join the benefiting millions, take a look at these 5 trends to make the most out of this wonder potion.

1. Do Not Rely On Natural Sources Completely

Gone are the days when one would consider gulping bouts of wine to get adequate resveratrol content for the body. Not only is the way impractical but it also entails alcohol related health risks. Neither is consuming excessive quantities of foods rich in the component a solution as that would again adversely affect the health.

2. Supplements Are The Way

With these natural sources of the component inefficient in catering to the bodily requirements of the component, going for supplements turns out to be a good option as they provide with concentrated amounts of it.

3. Go For Natural Supplements

Health supplements do not necessarily mean toxic and harsh stimulants that aim to reach a particular end by ignoring the overall health. While choosing a supplement going for the one that uses natural ingredients is a must.

4. Adequate Resveratrol Content Is Important

In order to yield best results it is extremely important that there is a minimum 50% concentration of resveratrol in the supplement you choose.

5. Chemical Appropriateness Is A Must

Another important thing to look for is the presence of trans resveratrol in the supplement. Inappropriate storage conditions transform it into cis- resveratrol which is incapable of delivering any anti- aging benefits as such.

Do not miss out on these trends to make your resveratrol anti aging supplement work. Stick to these and get set to rediscover the lost charms your youth.

What Are the Best Red Wines For Resveratrol Content?

Monday, September 21st, 2009
Stella Rossa asked:

Red wine is a rich source of resveratrol, and contains significantly more resveratrol than white wine. This is because the grape skins are left in with the juice for longer when making red wine, and the skins are where most of the resveratrol is found. The resveratrol content varies considerably from one red wine to another, however. So, what are the best red wines for resveratrol content?

By far the highest resveratrol content (around 40mg/liter) is found in both red and white wines made from the thick-skinned Muscadine grape, which is native to Florida and other parts of the south-eastern United States. Muscadine wine is not widely available outside the US, however.

Other red wines typically contain between 2 and 12.5mg of resveratrol per liter. Of the more popular grape varieties, Pinot Noir produces wines with the highest average resveratrol levels. The Pinot Noir grape tends to thrive in temperate, damp climates which also encourage molds and yeasts that attack vines and other plants. In this humid environment, plants produce increased quantities of resveratrol to defend against oxidization damage from fungal growth and other external pressures. Scientists have discovered that resveratrol has similar antioxidant benefits for the human body.

Pinot Noir from its native Burgundy, France, as well as from Oregon, Washington State or New Zealand generally contains more resveratrol than the equivalent wine from a hotter, dryer area such as California or Australia. Levels will also vary significantly from one vintage to another depending on the temperature and rainfall during the growing period. You don’t need to restrict yourself to drinking Pinot Noir, though – other red wines from cool, damp regions of the world are just as likely to offer good levels of resveratrol. The key to picking a red wine that gives you a decent amount of resveratrol is therefore to know a bit of geography.

Resveratrol Benefits

Monday, September 21st, 2009
Ben Nicholls asked:

Resveratrol has been around for awhile now but only until recently have scientists discovered the many health benefits of this supplement.

Whenever we are promised the latest supplement that is supposed to hit the market is the fountain of youth or everlasting life, they never end up living up to the hype or promises. While some of these supplements may have worked for you in the past but the benefits are usually only cosmetic and do nothing to slow down the aging process.

So recently when resveratrol came out and everyone from Oprah to 60 minutes was raving about it I thought that this was just another product that failed to live up to the hype. The difference with resveratrol and many other so called miracle products is that they have conducted real studies, done in a real lab with some very encouraging benefits.

These resveratrol benefits include the same antioxidants that are found in red wine, it has been shown to be as much as 50 times more powerful than vitamin c. It also aids in fighting certain diseases, weight loss and most importantly it slows down the chemical in our body that causes us to age.

The problem is when a very popular product like this comes out everyone wants to supply this to the public. This is when unqualified manufacturers try to take advantage of people. So when choosing which resveratrol supplement to get you have to be careful so that you receive the full benefits of resveratrol by choosing one that is legit.

These resveratrol supplements are currently being offered to the public with rick free trials of the product, but they are also limited in supply. So if would like to find out which manufacturers are real and are offering a free trial then head on over to my resveratrol benefits review page here.

Resveratrol and Menopause

Monday, September 21st, 2009
Elmis Strom asked:

Resveratrol is also effective in maintaining hormonal balance after menopause. Hormone Replacement Therapy is most commonly used in post-menopausal women to aid in the halted production of estrogen. However, HRT also makes for an increased risk in breast cancer, strokes, heart attacks and blood clots. Ongoing research demonstrates that resveratrol binds to human estrogen receptors. This increases hormonal activity in the body almost as effectively as HRT without the risks and side effects. It has been suggested that resveratrol supplementation may be a possible alternative to Hormone Replacement Therapy. Further researches might be able to uncover more benefits for women’s health.

In conclusion, women can benefit greatly from the intake of resveratrol. Aside from the medical implications, there are also cosmetic benefits in the form of resveratrol’s anti-aging and weight loss properties. A faster metabolic rate in women also increases the efficacy of the immune system. Hormonal imbalance may be remedied by the steady intake of resveratrol as well. Though it is always best to take resveratrol while on a steady and regular diet and exercise. That being said, bear in mind that resveratrol is a supplement not a prescription medicine.

Resveratrol was found to help women in combating post-menopausal bone loss. Moreover, Resveratrol also prevents the growth of angiogenesis, the tumor-causing blood vessels. Because of this, it also helps in preventing breast cancer in at any age.

One thing to note though, that even if there are a lot of good things that Resveratrol brings to women’s health, Resveratrol is not advised when a woman is pregnant and lactating. First, of all, wine-drinking is discouraged for such women because alcohol consumption at any stage of a woman’s pregnancy is unsafe. Women, who wish to take Resveratrol, for supplementary reasons, may do so using pills and must consult with their doctors first before taking a particular brand at a particular dosage.

Resveratrol and the Anti Aging Research

Sunday, September 20th, 2009
Christensen Martin asked:

Resveratrol is a natural ingredient found in wine grapes, Japanese knotweed and other types of grapes and fruits.

Resveratrol is probably one of the most tested anti oxidants we have ever seen, and with a good reason. Resveratrol might be the golden main key to stop the aging process and the diseases related to aging.

According to Doctors like Dr. Mehmet Oz and the Scientist Dr. Sinclair it will not be impossible if we in the near future will become 150 years old, instead of and average of 75 year. Imagine if you today are 50 years old, you might have to live for a hundred more years.

The Reason Is Resveratrol. Scientist have en their research found a very important gene, named SIRT1. It is important because it is the gene that controls the aging process. By activating SIRT1 you are able to slow down the aging process, and keep aging diseases like Alzheimer, Diabetes 2 and some forms of cancer away.

Some tests has been done in the country of Finland on humans and they did an amazing discovery, they found out that a Resveratrol supplement taken on a regular daily basis, just like vitamins, where able to improve mitochondrial function and protection against aging diseases, as a secondary benefit the test group actually lost body fat and weight at the same time, simple because of a better body function and increased metabolism.

Today there are many anti aging supplements around, but none of them has been tested as much as Resveratrol and none of them with so positive and clear results as Resveratrol.

To see the big picture we have to go back 1991, where 60 Minutes aired a story about The French Paradox. 60 Minutes was wondering why the French, was amongst the people with the lowest rates of heart diseases in the world, despite a high fat diet, with all their sauces, different fatty cheeses and Foie Gras. The news team interviewed a group of doctors and they all came to the conclusion it had to be the wine, or actually an ingredient in the wine named Resveratrol. It sits right under the skin of the grapes and are not only an anti oxidant but also responsible for the color of red wine.

Since then the beginning of the nineties Dr. Sinclair a pathology professor at Harvard Medical School and Dr. Christoph Westphal has been doing a lot of studies of in Resveratrol. Both believe strongly that Resveratrol is the Elixir of Youth. Dr. Christoph Westphal originally from Germany has founded the company Sirtris Pharmaceuticals that takes care of the commercial part of the research in anti aging and Resveratrol.

Eleni Milano asked:

Many people do not know that resveratrol has actually been around for many centuries and its uses dates back to antiquity. Yet, what was not known then was the potential of these resveratrol benefits because technology was not advanced enough. In addition it could not be found in such potent and condensed forms as it is today. The pharmaceutical giant GlaxosmitheKline has spent nearly one billion dollars into understanding these health benefits and to see what this supplement that doctors call ” the closest we have come to the fountain of youth” is all about.

Some of the Many Health And Medical Benefits Of Resveratrol

- Incredibly Strong anti-aging properties
- Increases overall energy level
- Aids in weight-loss
- Helps Battle neurodegenerative illnesses like Alzheimer’s disease
- Powerful antioxidant properties
- Cancer prevention qualities
- Aids and helps control type 2 diabetes

The Elixir of Youth and Vitality

There are many more known and unknown health and medical resveratrol, yet it is gained most of its fame because of its anti-aging qualities. It all started with this now famous 60 minutes interview about its effects on aging and has gained momentum ever since. As a matter of fact, many doctors and scientists believe that it can turn an eight yr. old into a 60 yr. old and a sixty yr. old person can have the body and health of a 45 yr. old.

Some of the many tests that produced overwhelming results are those of monkeys who were administered resveratrol and showed the health and activity level of monkeys almost half their age. Not only that, but there were strong visual proof as the monkeys retained a young coat with no white hairs and experienced none of the other medical problems the non-resveratrol group were combating.

There are many interesting resveratrol benefits that are being studied and still not fully understood, but the important factor behind this anti-aging effect is found in the activation of sirtuins. The Sertuin genes main job is working on shrinking cellular erosion and decay as they aid the cells to become powerful enough to restore themselves. This activity results the body to look and become more youthful internally and externally and is considered by many scientists to be the most amazing advancement in the field of anti-aging.

Racheal Stone asked:

The buzz around resveratrol is understandable given the plethora of health benefits that the substance entails. However, before you choose a resveratrol supplement for yourself, let these latest trends help you make a decision.

1. Natural Supplements Work The Best

Amid a wide variety of resveratrol supplements available in the market, the natural ones work the best. The upside of using these is that they are devoid of side effects and are closest to the goodness of the natural substance.

2. Modern Storage Conditions Ensure Quality Results

The most recent development regarding resveratrol is the supplements that come wrapped in an enteric coating. Because the substance degrades rapidly under the influence of heat and light, supplements empowered with such techniques are bound to become popular as they offer quality results.

3. Trans Resveratrol Is The Correct Way To Enjoy Benefits

Resveratrol Supplements Are the Best Anti-Aging Solution

Sunday, September 20th, 2009
Stai Leys asked:

While there are thousands of health products vying for their piece of the anti-aging market, few can provide the groundbreaking benefits of Resveratrol.

It isn’t merely an online phenomenon. Resveratrol been featured on 60 Minutes, ABC News with Barbara Walters, Fox News, CNN among others because of the proven scientific discovery that it slow downs signs of aging and prevents disease.

Expanding Human Lifespan

The news about Resveratrol captivated people across the United States since everyone wants to live longer, healthier and more vibrantly. We are entering an exciting time when humans are living longer than ever because of advancements in healthcare. More than 84,000 Americans are over 100 years old.

Experts on gerontology and senior issues determined the top 10 U.S. cities that offer the best quality of life for older adults. Popular cities for seniors reaching these advanced ages include Portland, Seattle, San Francisco, Pittsburgh, Milwaukee, Philadelphia, New York, Boston, Cincinnati and Chicago.
Resveratrol Research Studies

Starting with data that antioxidants in red wine, a mainstay of many French diets, had positive health and anti-aging benefits, research began to take off more than sixteen years ago.

While it is not possible to produce a pill that stops aging completely, Resveratrol’s clinical trials have shown that life spans can be dramatically increased, up to or even more than 50%. Beyond this the quality of life was drastically improved once middle age was reached.

Great amounts of clinical testing are still in the works, but the main results are in. They tell us that Resveratrol supplements have a greater promise to extend life than any other products available.

The potential of rez v (a short name for Resveratrol) is now a reality. Supplements are available to consumers in a much more pure, easy to take capsule form.
Why Drinking Red Wine Is NOT Effective

While grape skins and seeds are a great source of Resveratrol, drinking red wine is not the best way to reap the full benefits of the antioxidant. A 5 ounce glass of wine contains usually contains just over 1.5 mg of res v. According to Dr Sinclair, an individual would have to drink 1,000 Bottles of red wine to get anti-aging benefits.

Most supplements contain about 150-300 mg of Resveratrol per capsule. These are the only products available that can actually slow down the aging process.

Do your Research and Compare Anti-Aging Brands

Be sure to do your homework before you buy a supplement. Not all of the products on the market are even close in terms of quality. I set out to find which supplements are the best and found that only a few are actually effective at reducing aging.

Many of the products on the market use cheap ingredients and don’t live up to their claims. Don’t get ripped off! There are only a handful of quality products available. Find Res V Reviews that stand out from the rest in my Supplement Guide.

Resveratrol Weight Loss Supplement – Correct Intake Tips to Avoid Deadly Mistakes Revealed!

Sunday, September 20th, 2009
Faviano Torres asked:

Resveratrol has a lot of benefits to the health-conscious individual who wishes to lose weight: longer life, better physical fitness, and higher cardiovascular disease resistance, to name a few. Yet resveratrol has its own limitations and problems as well… or does it?

To date, no concrete scientific evidence has been presented to the side effects of resveratrol. Only anecdotal evidence from the first-hand experiences of users is available; making medical side effects impossible to prepare for. However, there are a few general tips for the correct intake of resveratrol to prevent deadly mistakes from occurring.
Specific allergies to resveratrol and some of its components are the most unpredictable and dangerous of all the problems a person may encounter. Directly ingesting an entire pill has a very high possibility of killing you if you are highly allergic to resveratrol. So make sure to contact your doctor before you take any resveratrol supplements, especially if you are allergic to grapes or wine.

Medical conditions like pre-existing heart ailments, diabetes, and liver problems may be aggravated with the sudden introduction of any supplement. Resveratrol is such a supplement, and you definitely do not want to self-medicate when you have a life-threatening medical condition at hand. Resveratrol is best avoided in these kinds of situations, unless your doctor says it is safe.

Blood pressure is also another problem. Though there is no medical study that reports resveratrol increases blood pressure, some individuals who take resveratrol report heightened blood pressure rates. With this in mind, make sure to monitor your blood pressure for spikes whenever you take your resveratrol supplements. If you notice an upward trend whenever you take it (and a downward trend when you don’t) you may want to skip out on the resveratrol altogether. A stroke or heart attack is no joking matter.

Resveratrol supplements definitely help with weight loss and promoting good health, but you still have to be careful when you take it. Keep these tips in mind, and you will be sure to avoid any deadly mistakes as you pursue your weight loss goals.

Sirtuins focus is to shrink cellular decay and aid the cells greater power to restore themselves. This benefits not only the internal organs but also the external ones which is why it gives your skin that youthful, shiny, healthy look

Resveratrol Dosage

Saturday, September 19th, 2009
Jitesh Arora asked:

Resveratrol is beneficial in many ways as it is helpful in treating and preventing several conditions like obesity, cancer, aging and other common disorders.

Resveratrol is present in many food products like cocoa and peanuts. One of the richest sources is red wine. You can start taking resveratrol with a minimum dose of 20 milligrams. It is a smart idea to start the drug with a small dose and you will see the benefits within very few days.

There are many things which should be considered before taking any type of health supplement. The most important thing is dose of the drug. Proper dose always give desirable results.

Do you know what Bio-Availability is?  Bio-availability can be explained as the dose of drug that should be taken by anyone. In case of Resveratrol this measurement is done by evaluating the level of drug in urine or plasma.

The dosage of the resveratrol generally differs from one person to another. The dose taken by one patient may not suit others. Resveratrol is almost always effective but one has to take care of the amount he is consuming. It is a smart idea to go through the reviews and articles related to the product you are planning to buy. There are many websites and blogs which regularly review latest health care products.

Don`t forget to visit your family doctor. He can help you a lot in making the best choice possible. Pregnant women and lactating mothers should not intake any type of drugs without proper consultation.

Resveratrol Recipes? A Resveratrol Menu Featuring Itadori Tea

Saturday, September 19th, 2009
Dan R Morris asked:

I’ve noticed that quite a few people search for “resveratrol recipes”, which I believe to be quite odd. That’s likely because most people just don’t understand what resveratrol is and thus think you must be able to make it; therefore, there must be some good resveratrol recipes.

Well it happens to be very similar to Vitamin C, beta carotene and magnesium. (Ever hear of someone searching for Magnesium Recipes?) That’s right, resveratrol is a nutrient; it’s actually classified as an antioxidant and a phytonutrient (found in plants). You can’t make it any more than you can make a tall, cool glass of Vitamin A. However, you can put together a meal that’s high in resveratrol, and even one that is chock full of antioxidants.

So, your first recipe is for dinner. To get all the benefits of resveratrol without having to take a supplement, start with a Japanese knotweed salad (Japanese knotweed is a lot like rhubarb), and a glass of itadori tea (see the recipe below). Then follow that up with a peanut encrusted halibut, green beans and wild rice (peanuts are a great source as well), accompanied by a nice glass of red wine. Finally top the night off with a bowl of French Vanilla ice cream topped with blueberries and a piece of dark chocolate (both great sources). Then voila’ – you’ll have had more healthy antioxidants than most people do in a week.

Now if you’re talking about breakfast, start with a nice tall glass of cranberry or purple grape juice and chocolate chip pancakes topped with blueberries. (Cranberries are also a great source of resveratrol.) That will get your day started right.

ITADORI TEA RECIPE

1. Gather knotweed shoots, very young knotweed shoots make better tea. If you use tough knotweed stems, coarsely chop or break, using kitchen shears.
2. Cover with cold water, then bring to a boil. Reduce Heat and Simmer for 20 minutes.
3. Strain and add sugar to taste. Chill before serving.
4. Fresh Strawberries or crushed raspberries may be added (but aren’t necessary). Strain again to remove seeds.

Resveratrol Research Brings Glimmer of New Hope For Cancer Patients

Friday, September 18th, 2009
Karen A Graham asked:

Resveratrol research has come on in leaps and bounds over the last 10 years. Many scientists from many countries around the world including the USA, Japan, England and others have been undertaking research both on lab animals and also on humans, diabetic trials, to find out what the extent resveratrol has in protecting and curing the human body.

Part of this research has been to try it at different strengths to analyze what can be achieved. One really outstanding research was carried out on lung cancer tissue and more than one group of scientists in different countries were achieving similar results.

What these results of the resveratrol research were showing was that resveratrol when it was put with the malignant cells prevented the cells from further growth. Each test that was carried out showed that it was able to prevent the cancer cells from multiplying and spreading. In fact the results have proven so positive that the scientists have said that it could be a new treatment for oncology patients.

Resveratrol found in its natural state as part of the secondary metabolites of plants such as cranberries, raspberries, bilberries, red grapes, peanuts, Japanese knotweed etc. could not be consumed in large enough doses to have such amazing effect as the above results have shown.

Eating these foods though in their natural state does give your body some protection but if you want to gain the optimum protective and healing benefits of resveratrol then you need to take them in a supplementary form.

Resveratrol can be taken as a single supplement however I prefer to take mine as part of a highly nutritious combined supplement that contains lots of other life enhancing ingredients such as aloe vera polysaccharide, decaffeinated green tea extract, ginko biloba and a host of other amazing ingredients that when working in synergy together gives me the ultimate and optimal protection against terminal illness as resveratrol research has shown.

Dr Oz Resveratrol For Anti-Aging – The Secret of Dr Oz to Live Longer & Look Younger Revealed

Friday, September 18th, 2009
Ruben McDaniels asked:

Red wine is really good for your health, and this fact is one of the most talked about pieces of dietary news to arise in recent years. Dr. Oz says part of the reason is the resveratrol, a powerful antioxidant that comes from the skin of grapes. White wine has no resveratrol benefit because vintners don’t do the same process to make white wine than that of red wine.

Resveratrol also turns on a system in your body that prevents cells from aging. Dr. Oz also says that you can get some resveratrol from Concord grape juice or other dark grape juices, but you won’t get as much benefit as you would get from red wine. “80% of the benefit of the wine is alcohol, and 20% is resveratrol. It’s the combination that makes this red wine so valuable.

But also remember, moderation is the key when drinking to your health. Dr. Oz recommends that people should drink about 1 glass of red wine a day. Some men can drink slightly more because males metabolize alcohol more effectively compared to females.

You can also get anti-aging nutrients from spices. Dr. Oz says that research have shown that cinnamon can decrease blood sugar levels and lower cholesterol, especially those with type-2 diabetes. Turmeric is also a relief from those who suffer from arthritis. This Turmeric is a spice found in curry that has also been reported to help prevent Alzheimer’s. Cayenne Pepper and Patrika can also help fight high blood pressure and improve circulation.

Resveratrol – It’s What Makes Red Wine Healthy

Friday, September 18th, 2009
Heather May asked:

If you have ever wondered what makes red wine healthy in moderation. The next few sentences should help you understand why that is. A chemical in the vines and skins of grapes have a few unique properties. The chemical resveratrol prevents the cause of certain cancer conditions like tumor growth. It is able to extend any ordinary persons life span by keeping the body healthy. There are many specialty products that have something to offer which no food contains. Others have a concentrated form of a substance that is hard to get without any bi-products.

Resveratrol is found in many plants because it protects them from bacteria and disease. Although grape juice is usually made from grapes it doesn’t contain a good amount of resveratrol. Red wine is different because it has been fermented which helps to release the chemical into the liquid. There are ways to get resveratrol without drinking red wine. The supplement resveratrol is the best way to boost insulin and glucose levels in blood. This is the exact reason why athletes use resveratrol, because it helps to boost muscle growth. Diabetics use resveratrol for a similar reason, this chemical helps the blood create insulin which is very important to digest sugar. As for cancer, tumor growth is from an enzyme that stimulates growth. The resveratrol fights this enzyme, in turn preventing cancer cells from growing.

The most important property of resveratrol is it’s ability to keep molecules in the same shape. When food is normally digested the molecules become twisted and lose the ability to be absorbed properly into the blood stream. Using resveratrol helps to keep those same molecules in the same shape. This effect helps the body digest food properly and even help you lose wrinkles because of resveratrol’s antiaging properties. With the combination of these qualities there is no wondering why people use resveratrol supplements every day.

Resveratrol Dosage – Is More Essentially Better?

Friday, September 18th, 2009
James Mitchell asked:

Trans Resveratrol Capsules: The Fountain Of Youth In A Supplement?

Resveratrol is now almost a household name, thanks to the extensive media coverage this antioxidant has received. A 60 minutes exclusive profile dedicated to this wonder product has made it one of the most sought after drug of all times. Resveratrol is an anti-aging nutrient which can not only stall the aging process but also reverse it. It is naturally found in red wine, berries and even in peanuts. The French Paradox wherein although the French people drink the most red wine and have a rather unhealthy diet, still the occurrence of heart related disorders in France is the least, can be directly attributed to the presence of Resveratrol in red wine. Not only is it great as an anti-aging drug, it is also known to prevent heart diseases.

How does Resveratrol help to Prevent Aging?

Resveratrol can effectively activate some genes in our body that contribute directly to its longevity. These genes are referred to as ‘Sirtuins’ and they can slow down the decay of cells in our bodies. Sirtuins also increase the ability of the cells to repair themselves, thereby increasing their life tenure. A reduction in cell decay is the main factor which contributes to Resveratrol being such a success in slowing the aging process.

How can we provide our bodies with Adequate Resveratrol without resorting to Red Wine Binges?

Most of the people out there who want to slow down the aging process and also lead a healthier life are understandably skeptical about increasing their red wine intake. Red wine has a lot of alcohol content and is also loaded with calories, two things which a health conscious person can do without.

This is where Resveratrol supplements come into the picture. These are generally available as capsules which provide us with all the health benefits of Resveratrol without the added negatives of red wine. There are some key factors which should be considered before taking Resveratrol capsules. Just popping any pill is not ok, authenticity has to be ensured. Due to sudden demand for Resveratrol supplements, markets have been flooded with this product. While, some are the real thing containing the required quantity of Resveratrol, many of the Resveratrol capsules available on the market are plain fads and should be avoided at all costs.

Is More Essentially Better as far as Resveratrol Dosage Is Concerned?

Low dosages have been found to be very effective in their anti aging properties and in all the other health benefits that Resveratrol brings in. These have the added advantage of having no side effects, unlike high dosages of Resveratrol supplements which can lead to side effects like chelation of minerals from our bodies. Try out a low dosage Resveratrol supplement before opting for the ‘more is better’ policy.

Resveratrol For Cellulite – Does Resveratrol Cure and Remove Cellulite?

Thursday, September 17th, 2009
Maria Wilkinson asked:

Resveratrol is found in the skin of grapes and red wine. This compound can easily add 20 years to your life. Resveratrol contains powerful anti-oxidants, which can easily flush out toxins from your body while cellulite is mostly formed due to the clumping of fat cells underneath our skin. Cellulite are mostly formed in the places like thighs and butts. The appearance of these fat cells can make you look awkward.

You can’t think of wearing a bikini with this problem. In order to flaunt a well-toned appearance, one should take up resveratrol. Obesity is also a reason for the formation of these fat cells although thin people also suffer from this orange peel effect. Resveratrol can easily diminish these ripples from our skin by stimulating the production of collagen and elastin in our body.

Recently we have Dr. Oz discussing about the potentiality of resveratrol in Oprah Show. He said that 2 pills of resveratrol daily could easily make you look younger than your age. This supplement not only diminishes wrinkles, dark circles and age spots but also prevents our body from various deadly diseases such as diabetes, osteoporosis, Alzheimer’s disease, cancer and heart attacks. It increases the flow of blood in our body and nourishes our immune system. Resveratrol intake can easily rejuvenate our overall health with ease.

Resveratrol can eliminate the clumping of fat cells by stimulating the growth of collagen in our body. You can also apply acai cream for reducing the appearance of cellulite. Acai berries are known for their fat burning properties. Acai cream can easily burn those extra fats in your body by boosting metabolism. Acai cream can also tighten your thighs and butts by diminishing fat cells. In order to flaunt an exceptionally sexy thighs and butts, one should employ resveratrol and acai cream. These two products not only burn fats but also nurture your entire body.

Resveratrol Supplement – Some Crucial Information

Thursday, September 17th, 2009
Vincent R Watson asked:

Personal health is not on the top of everyone’s priority list today. It should be but life seems to get in the way. We all have hectic lifestyles and do not always have the time to keep up to date with the latest research and information, let alone pick through it to see which experts are correct.

After all, there is so much information around about what is and what is not good for you that it can be difficult to plow through it all. Most of it is scaremongering but other substances could help us to elevate our collective health. One such substance is Resveratrol.

Resveratrol is commonly found in wine and was discovered some years ago when research was undertaken to determine just how drinking wine can affect an individual’s health. Instead of harming it, as it was believed previously, it helped to keep several illnesses at bay and Resveratrol was the reason why. At the time, Resveratrol was classified with other substances that could be found in wine.

This meant it was cast aside and labelled as a toxin rather than used in health care to enhance the human body’s ability to fight off cancer, Alzheimer’s Disease, dementia, heart disease and other illnesses that get more common as we age.

Research that was performed into wine a few years later discovered the true benefits of Resveratrol and also found that it was the reason that the French lived so long considering that their diet was hardly conducive to a long and healthy life!

This was in the 1990s and it has largely fallen under the radar since, and yet people that still take it tend to be much healthier.

But what does this mean for you?

For reliable information on Resveratrol benefits it’s always recommended to go to a trusted source.

What can consuming Resveratrol do for you?

Essential facts that everyone needs to know are outlined below for ease of reference.

After reading them, you may understand why it is important to consume Resveratrol on a regular basis:

* Resveratrol has been the subject of extensive research and has been proven to have a number of effects, all of which can enhance your health. It can help to protect the cells of the body against toxins, can work in various areas of the body, restricts the growth of cancer cells and maintains the health of the heart.

* Resveratrol is a natural substance and can be found in (amongst other things) grapes, nuts, vines and pine trees,. As such, it does not have any synthetic qualities that could cause more harm than good. This is also why it can be found in wine.

* Although Resveratrol is most commonly found in wine, the levels in every glass depend on a number of factors, including how the grapes were grown and how the wine was made with them. For example, if grapes are grown organically then they are full of Resveratrol but if pesticides are added then this degrades it. The majority of wines barely contain any as a result of this but organic reds from France often contain quite a lot!

* You can obtain Resveratrol via supplements and standardised doses and they are essential if you want to make sure that you get enough to give your body a helping hand in the fight against disease and aging. This form of it is actually taken from the roots of plants so it is undiluted and guaranteed to work.

There is now plenty of information around about Resveratrol so it’s easy to find out more if you want to. However, it is worth considering all of the above and taking the correct dosage to help safeguard your health in the coming years.

Resveratrol Tips – 3 Tips to Remain Young Using the Resveratrol Supplement

Thursday, September 17th, 2009
Nishant Saxena asked:

Resveratrol is often touted as the ultimate fountain of youth. Scientific laboratory experiments confirm these claims and establish resveratrol as having the potential to increase longevity and improve health owing to the unusual antioxidant properties of the substance. While the product is excellent beyond doubt, here are 3 tips that’ll help you derive the maximum out of this wonder of nature:

1. Go For Genuine Products

I am sure none of you would want to go through the trauma of landing up buying something that is grossly different from what you thought it would be like. It becomes important then to ensure that you are not getting grape seed extract or red wine extract in the name of resveratrol supplements. These undoubtedly contain resveratrol but the concentration is so low, it will not deliver any benefits at all.

2. Avoid Falling For The Hype

Anti ageing products always have a certain aura around them. Whether it is anti-ageing creams or supplements, they are bound to sell like hotcakes. In such a situation, one needs to understand that all the hype is mere eyewash. It is foolish to draw conclusion unless you actually try a product.

3. Grab Those Free Trail Packs

Considering the high price tags that these supplements come with, it is prudent to try out those free trial packs first. This is especially an excellent way to weed out the undeserving products from the genuine ones. Once you find the product that suits you, you can always subscribe for it.

With these quick tips by your side, you can surely remain young forever with the amazing benefits that this unique food offers. Staying young was never so simpler. The added health benefits that it comes with are definitely a cherry on the cake.

Resveratrol and Wine – What’s the Health Connection?

Thursday, September 17th, 2009
Harry J. Andersohn asked:

For years we’ve been told that drinking wine, and in particular red wine, was beneficial to your health. A lot of people assumed that it might be the alcohol in the wine that was providing the health benefits. But they couldn’t have been more wrong.

Recent trials and studies in the lab have pretty much shown conclusively that the health benefits we’re getting from that wine are from the antioxidants, the polyphenols, and above all else, the resveratrol.

By the way, in a second I’m going to show you why drinking wine in order to get the benefits of resveratrol is a dangerous way to go about things.

Down at the end of this article, I’ll show you how to get resveratrol into your system without having to do damage to your body by drinking massive amounts of alcohol. I can’t stress how important this is. So please stay tuned for that.

But first, let’s talk about exactly what resveratrol is, and its relationship to wine.

So finally we know what it is in the wine that is responsible for things like the French Paradox and other mysteries relating to how people who eat a less than ideal diet still manage to remain largely free of the kinds of diseases and health problems that afflict so many Americans.

It wasn’t known until recently just how powerful resveratrol actually is. We now know that it’s as much as 50 times more powerful than vitamin C, for example, and has been shown to do everything from protect against cancer to slow down — dare I say reverse — the aging process.

Pretty good stuff. Now, the only problem with resveratrol is the way most people get it — through that wine that we mentioned above. This is because in order to get sufficient quantities of resveratrol to get the maximum benefit, you have to drink many, many bottles of wine every day. While this may sound like fun, the amount that you have to drink would quickly lead to other health problems that even resveratrol couldn’t solve.

The bottom line is that the alcohol in the wine has the potential to largely undo the benefits of the resveratrol. Your body has to work extra hard to remove the toxicity associated with the alcohol you’re drinking. And when that happens, it’s pretty obvious that you’re probably doing more harm than good, even if you are getting a decent amount of resveratrol in the bargain.

Resveratrol Weight Loss Supplements – Dr Oz Ultra Pure Resveratrol Endorsement

Thursday, September 17th, 2009
Rob R Carmichael asked:

Resveratrol weight loss supplements are all the rage at moment as Dr Oz’s recent ultra pure resveratrol endorsement was featured on the Oprah show.

Found in the roots and skin of certain plants, this polyphenol is a fungi which helps protect the plant from bacteria, and when consumed over prolonged periods of time has now been medically proven to naturally cleanse and scrub your arteries.

Welcome news for many in the U.S and Europe as these continents hold some of the worst artery related statistics, where in North America, artery related illnesses have reached pandemic levels.

Having clean effective arteries is crucial for your heart to function at its “optimum rate” so a healthy heart and healthy arteries will in effect most definitely mean a longer life.

Okinawans and Sardinia’s consume resveratrol in its highest concentration day in day out and not only do these communities have some of the largest centenarian populations per capita, but obesity is unheard of.

Working well into their nineties, and still carrying out daily chores such as gardening or cooking, it would be impossible for fit elderly individuals to carry out such tasks if they are overweight.

Aside from naturally cleansing your arteries, Resveratrol weight loss properties are new to the weight loss market.

Essentially, resveratrol will help you lose weight by activating the SiRT1 gene. SiRT1 works by activating a fight response within our cells which from studying calorie restriction diets we have learned that a decreased intake of calories causes SiRT1 to activate, and in turn this breaks down stored fat and increases energy levels.

By taking resveratrol we therefor don’t have to reduce our caloric intake, so by maintaining a more natural diet we can realistically receive the same effects a calorie restricted diet will offer.

Consuming ultra pure quantities of resveratrol is key here if you want it to deliver.

Not only will it scrub your arteries, healthy arteries means replenished and rejuvenated skin and in turn by consuming resveratrol and activating your SiRT1 gene, you will break down those stored fat areas and increase your energy levels, therefor resveratrol will then attribute weight loss and help you naturally shed pounds as well as extend your life.

Resveratrol Ultra Review – Find Out What Resveratrol Can Do For You

Thursday, September 17th, 2009
Corey T Bruhn asked:

Resveratrol Ultra is being promoted as an anti-aging supplement with life-extending properties that can help you look and feel young again. From our research into the main ingredient in this prodcut, we found that resveratrol itself backs up the above claim quite nicely. How well Resveratrol Ultra packages and delivers that anti-aging, life-extending, youth-enhancing power is the subject of this Review.

As mentioned already, the primary active ingredient in Resveratrol Ultra is, of course, resveratrol. It is the antioxidant in red wine grapes that combats the signs and ravages of aging and therefore helps extend life-expectancy. The form that the resveratrol takes is as a combination of French whole wine grapes, giant knotweed root, and rhizome extracts. Cumulatively they provide 125 mg of resveratrol in the form of 100% trans-resveratrol, the most bio-available (or biologically active) form of the antioxidant.

The other active ingredient in Resveratrol Ultra is the extract of Sophora, a Japanese flower bud. 150 mg of this comes standardized so as to contain 90% rutin, a powerful flavinoid with anti-inflammatory, anti-viral, anti-oxidant, anti-allergenic, and anti-carcinogenic properties.

Studies have shown that resveratrol duplicates the effects of “portion control” or caloric restriction. Its other reported benefits include repairing damaged cells and preventing further cellular damage, cleans cholesterol from clogged arteries, and rejuvenates the skin.

This resveratrol supplement is not suitable for pregnant women and new mothers who are still nursing.

A bottle of Resveratrol Ultra contains 60 tabs or capsules. A single serving is 2 tabs.  However, there are free trial options available to consumers.

Resveratrol is also being promoted as a weight loss aide.  This statement comes from the fact that resveratrol boosts your metabolism, thus giving you increased energy to do more, and therefore lose weight.

Resveratrol Reviews

Wednesday, September 16th, 2009
Matt Anderson asked:

Resveratrol has become the latest buzz as we hear endless stories on the news about what it can do. 60 Minutes said it all. “Forget dieting, forget the sweaty business of working out – just pop a pill and you’re in guilt free, couch potato paradise,” said Morley Safer.

Besides doing a great job of removing free radicals from the body, which are responsible for the aging of organs and the skin, and which lead to age related illnesses, it seems resveratrol is doing a lot for weight loss as well.

Resveratrol comes from the skin of grapes. The skins must ferment to pull the resveratrol out, which is why it is found in red wine. However, to get the true benefit you would have to drink 1000 bottles of wine every day. The good news is there are plenty of natural supplements available that can provide you with the necessary daily dose to enjoy the benefits.

RevGenetics

This supplement has certainly earned itself a reputation for providing a product that many have come to enjoy the results from. All of us want to look and feel younger, and with resveratrol the entire aging process is slowed down, even reversed so you have the energy you had a decade or more ago.

Revgenetics offers quality products that you can trust, and they offer them at much better prices as well.

Every batch of their products are tested for purity, eg they have 98-99% purity, and safety. They also offer ‘micronised resveratrol’ for better absorption than regular resveratrol. In addition, their capsules are tested for Sirtuin gene activation, so you know their resveratrol works.

Longevinex

You could say Longevinex is resveratrol with a kick. It seems calorie restriction doubles the life expectancy and prolongs life, slowing the rate of aging. There are all kinds of theories about why we age, but none of the theories explains why we have three different aging phases.

While resveratrol is able to turn genes on and off, and thus it becomes apparent how Longevinex can slow down the aging process. Longevinex is a product that has an excellent track record and plenty of research to go along with it.

Longevinex offers quality products with plenty of research.

Free Trial Offers

Some companies offer a free trial. Some examples are ResV resveratrol and resveratrol ultra. This is an excellent way to try a particular resveratrol. Some may require that you provide credit card information right away.

While that is up to you, many of these companies will auto ship if you do actually cancel the order. Rather than opting in you must opt out and that can cause confusion since you never opted in to begin with. Have we confused you now?

Fly By Night

There is no question that resveratrol has helped many people. There is also no question that there are some quality products on the market. Nevertheless, as with anything that becomes fashionable may product suppliers come out of the woodwork with products that are little more than snake oil.

Do your homework, read what others have to say, and that will help you choose quality products with a resveratrol supplements review that’s not all hype and no help.

Resveratrol is a powerful antioxidant that removes free radicals from the body. Free radicals age our organs and our skin and that’s why when a resveratrol supplement is taken many enjoy looking and feeling years younger.

Resveratrol Recommended Dosage

Wednesday, September 16th, 2009
John Cowburn asked:

Flavonoids such as Resveratrol from red wine, catechins from green tea and polyphenols from pine bark are widely known potent vasodilators and antioxidants and this is why they are often included in special health giving dietary supplements. This is all good but it is often difficult to discover what’s the resveratrol recommended dosage.

Research indicates they may:
be anti aging improve cardiovascular health. aid weight loss. heal herpes simplex virus. help at time of menopause when estrogen levels drop. support our immune system.

Do you know what’s in your Resveratrol supplement? I bet that like myself until recently, you haven’t got a clue. Many manufacturers of resveratrol supplements avoid disclosing full information of both the strength of the resv and what else is contained in the supplement.

If that’s the case, you’ll be pleased to know that I’ve done the hard work for you and am happy to point you in the right direction.

Rezveratrol recommended dosage

I’m not going to give you the answer right away, but I will be showing you where to get further free information. Hopefully you will be a little wiser and interested in learning more, once you have finished reading this article.

There are several problems to be considered:
very few makers agree on a recommended daily dosage there are two types of rezv, trans and cis. One is natural and the other synthetic and you will need to learn about the purity and strength of each very few makers will hold their hands up and say whether they use five, twenty or fifty percent strength

With this situation how can you be expected to buy the product when you don’t know whether you are taking too little or too much. You could be wasting your money because the dosage is too low or you may be risking your health by using a supplement with far too high a dosage.

Unless you find a reputable company, you may not even be aware of how pure the product is. Perhaps you have read some of the bad press regarding concerns about how the product is obtained. Not all manufacturers produce their own goods and this work can be contracted out to the cheapest bidder.

Risks from this practice include:
badly sourced raw ingredients bad blending protocols supplements will be made as cheap as possible product will contain unwanted extras product may not have what it claims to no proper testing of the supplement

I should hasten to add that it is not all bad news and there are some excellent companies selling on the Internet who are prepared to tell you exactly how they source and test their raw ingredients. One I can thoroughly recommend is a manufacturer who I have been buying from for nearly 2 years – below I will tell you where to go to find out more about this very different company and the life changing products it both manufactures itself and sells.

Below is a list of some of the other companies and supplements I have investigated:
biotivia Transmax jarrow Synergy sirtris biochem forte ultra bioforte botivia

The questions is: how many of these companies display their protocols for all to see?

I hope you don’t feel that I have left you with more questions than answers. It’s just not really possible in this short article to tell you everything, but remember this:
taking a 32mg supplement of 50% trans-resveratrol once a day corresponds to the Rezv content of several bottles of red wine resv is really sensitive and its potency can be reduced by stomach acid

Obviously from this, it essential to find a supplier that sells trans-resv enteric coated supplements at 32mg – 50% strength.

Resveratrol Supplement Review – Is Resveratrol an Anti-Ageing Drug?

Wednesday, September 16th, 2009
Pat Bancroft asked:

In doing a Resveratrol supplement review you need to look at the ‘evidence’. You need to see that what you are being sold lives up to it’s reputation and is not one of those fads that come and go and you’re very soon out of pocket!

Before you can make a judgment on how effective, or otherwise Resveratrol is you need to look at some background information first i.e. What is Resveratrol and where does it come from? Does it work and if it does is it an effective anti-ageing drug?

What is Resveratrol?

Quite simply Resveratrol is extracted from a fungus that grows on the skin of red grapes. Hence you may often hear of its association with red wine. Resveratrol somehow (scientists are still working on this!) inhibits bacteriological infections that wear down the immune system and this is why so many consumers ‘feel’ much better afterwards.

Does Resveratrol work?

What we do know is that laboratory experiments with mice have shown that there has been a significant reduction in the ageing process of mice treated with Resveratrol in comparison to those which haven’t. We also know that CBS 60 Minutes interviewed the two French scientists which discovered this relationship causing other high profile celebrities such as Dr Oz and Barbara Walters to also claim that it has positive benefits.

However I can imagine you thinking that testing on mice is not the same as testing on humans. Yes, you are right and this is where the debate lies. Scientists are renowned for looking at phenomena and then looking for explanations (objective explanations). The two French scientists which I mentioned before noticed that French people had ‘fattier’ diets than their other European counterparts yet were much thinner and had a longer life span. The scientist invented a term to explain this called the ‘French Paradox’. On extensive tests the differentiating factor was isolated as red wine consumption.

Additionally in Sardinia (an island off Italy) more people live past 100 than any where else in Europe and again the scientists have found out that the fungi from the red grapes there is even more concentrated than in France. So there seems to be a correlation for humans as well!

On balance there seems to be a correlation between Resveratrol and the anti-ageing process. This correlation has been enough to cause a surge in demand for the product and prices and quality does vary – so beware!

How do I get Resveratrol?

Resveratrol has two main manufacturers, LongeVinex (French) and Xi’an (China) and is manufactured as capsules/pills. The quantity of which ranges from 30 to 60 capsules per bottle. In doing this Resveratrol supplement review we have found that the best companies are so confident that they offer a free trial.

Resveratrol Benefits – Are They Just Hype?

Wednesday, September 16th, 2009
Harry J. Andersohn asked:

We’ve heard this story before, haven’t we? Whenever a new supplement or natural food source comes on the market, we’re told that, finally, we’ve found the key to everlasting life and health.

If you’re like me, you’ve probably gotten excited in the past and have rushed out to buy expensive supplements, powders, pills, capsules, tinctures, teas, or some other concoction that promised to rejuvenate your mind and body.

Some of them have probably worked for you. I know that a fair number of supplements I take on a daily basis definitely help improve my life — and probably even extend it. But for every one that does work, there’s another that doesn’t do a darn thing.

Sound familiar? So when the news first broke about resveratrol and it’s supposed fountain-of-youth qualities, I naturally got excited, but I also tried deliberately to tone down my enthusiasm. I guess this is a side effect of having been burned before.

But now here’s the difference between resveratrol and so many of the other compounds or obscure remedies we’ve heard about in the past. Resveratrol actually has studies — real studies, done in a real lab — that back up the claims.

In fact, the research is so promising, and apparently so convincing, that even major U.S. pharmaceutical companies are getting in on the act.

So is resveratrol for real? I’m no doctor, but I certainly tend to think that it is.

But now here’s the real caveat to all of this. Whenever anything gains a sudden popularity the way resveratrol has, you’re going to find that a lot of unqualified manufacturers are going to jump on the bandwagon and start to try and supply this to a hungry public.

What this means is that you have to be careful about who and where you get your resveratrol from. I’m going to show you in just a second what I think is the very best way to find the highest quality resveratrol around. So please read through to the end of this article so that I can share that with you.

(Oh, and I’ll also tell you how to get some great resveratrol for free. This is great little tactic, so stay tuned!)

First, just in case you weren’t aware, I wanted to go through some of the resveratrol benefits so that you can see what has everyone so excited.

Did you know, for example, that resveratrol has been shown to be as much as 50 times more powerful as an antioxidant than vitamin C?

But that’s just the tip of the iceberg. In lab tests, subjects given resveratrol performed better on all kinds of physical and mental tests — in other words, they performed as though they were much younger.

And this, more than anything else, is what has people so excited. What we’re talking about here is a substance, that’s naturally occurring, and that apparently acts to slow down or reverse the aging process.

Now of course we have to throw in here that there have been no long-term studies on resveratrol as of yet. But it’s just my personal opinion that I don’t want to wait 20 years until I’m old and gray to start trying to recapture my youth.

I would rather start slowing down the aging process today. So that in 20 years I can look back at this point in my life and say that it was one of the smartest decisions I ever made.

Resveratrol FAQ – Resveratrol & Red Wines Health Benefits

Tuesday, September 15th, 2009
Mark Scrano asked:

What is resveratrol?

Resveratrol may be one of the biggest breakthroughs in anti-aging research yet. It’s a naturally occurring anti-oxidant and is the star of recent anti-aging research. Resveratrol is a property of red wine and is found in the skins of the red grapes the wine is made from. While it has long been known that red wine is beneficial for the heart, the reasons behind it have only recently been discovered. The benefits of drinking red wine have been boiled down to the molecule resveratrol in an accidental find by researchers.

While studying the genetics behind aging and the genes associated with it, they learned that resveratrol seeks out those genes and activates them, ultimately slowing down the aging process. Studies are showing that resveratrol may prevent several age-related diseases and may actually increase life spans. To get the full benefit of the molecule, it’s now available in a concentrated pill form.

What does resveratrol do?

Resveratrol may help prevent diseases and other age-related deterioration. In studies performed on lab mice, researchers have found that resveratrol may have several positive health effects including: Preventing heart disease Preventing Type 2 diabetes Preventing certain types of cancer, including prostate and breast cancer Preventing Alzheimer’s Increasing bone health Counteracting a high-fat diet Aiding in weight loss Increasing life span

Red wine was believed to be associated with heart health and connected to the healthier diets of Mediterranean peoples. This included the French who, like Americans, consume fattier foods but have less heart disease. Resveratrol is the link to the benefits of drinking red wine.

Where is it found?

Resveratrol occurs naturally in red wine because it’s found in the skins of red grapes. However, in a recent study by Hershey’s Center for Health and Nutrition, it was discovered that resveratrol is also found in cocoa and dark chocolate.

What are the benefits?

Resveratrol may help slow down the aging process by counteracting a lot of age-related health problems. Benefits of taking resveratrol may include: Better heart health Prevention of Type 2 diabetes Prevention of prostate and breast cancer Prevention of Alzheimer’s Prevention of bone deterioration Reduced cataract formation Increased life span Prevention of weight gain and weight loss

What are the risks?

Resveratrol is still a recent find so conclusive evidence of its effects on humans will come with time. You may wish to consult a physician before taking a resveratrol supplement. It is not recommended for women who are pregnant or for children.

Do you need to take a pill to get enough resveratrol?

Because the amount of resveratrol found in red wine is in such low doses, you might need to drink hundreds or thousands of bottles of red wine a day to see the same results as the tests performed on the lab mice. Resveratrol supplements are a concentrated dose of the molecule and therefore have a stronger effect.

Who is responsible for the research?

The research on resveratrol has been performed at the Harvard Medical School by David Sinclair and Joseph Baur and at the National Institute on Aging by Rafael de Cabo.

Resveratrol – Is Resveratrol Better Than Acai Berry?

Tuesday, September 15th, 2009
Ashley Hilton asked:

A sudden awareness about different health foods, super foods and other nutrition foods has created a kind of confusion about which supplement to choose. In recent times Resveratrol has got some very positive feed backs from users. It is a rich source of Anti oxidant which keeps your internal systems in perfect condition. The same is true for Acai berry but there is a slight difference in the usage and health benefits of these two health foods.

Following is comparison of these two health supplements. Both are equally good depending upon your needs.

Acai berry is a natural berry fruit grown in the rainforests of Amazon. It cannot be produced in lab therefore its supply is somewhat limited. Resveratrol is a plant compound which is found in nature but it can also be produced in lab. Its supply is almost unlimited. Resveratrol is meant for overall health which includes cardio vascular, immune and digestion system apart from weight loss. Acai berry also works the same way but its supplements available on the market are meant for weight loss. Resveratrol is more popular for its anti aging effect while Acai is known for weight loss properties. Acai’s weight loss formula with colon cleanser has created a sensation over the last few years. Resveratrol is touted as the most important discovery after antibiotics while Acai is known as the no.1 super food of the world. Both the supplement are good for overall health ,but if your priority is general health and not weight loss in particular you should go for plant  based health supplement.

The Reviews Are in on Resveratrol and the News is Good

Tuesday, September 15th, 2009
Charles Strong asked:

A Resveratrol review can be a helpful guide for individuals who are considering adding this natural anti-oxidant to their regular health regimen. As more and more becomes known about Resveratrol it is useful to learn what the experts have to say before deciding on the right course for you.

Resveratrol is a natural plant chemical found primarily in the seeds and skins of red grapes as well as in peanuts. It is found in its most concentrated form in red wine and red grape juice. Resveratrol reviews suggest that one 4 oz. glass of red wine with dinner can provide a healthy amount for the average adult.

Obviously red wine isn’t an ideal option for everyone, but it is now also possible to find Resveratrol in pill form. A Resveratrol review can help you to distinguish between the various available options but in most cases the benefits of Resveratrol are optimized when it is included in a natural dietary supplement along with a special blend of other plant based substances.

Resveratrol reviews have shown that it is rich in ant-oxidant and other helpful properties. Like any anti-oxidant, it helps to remove toxins from your body which can build up as the result of daily exposure to environmental irritants. Resveratrol can also help the body in other ways, including reducing inflammation and preventing cell mutation which lead to the development of cancers.

The benefits of Resveratrol are enhanced when it is combined with vitamins, minerals, enzymes, herbal extracts and other natural compounds. By working together, these substances can combat a range of problems, from wrinkled skin to impaired circulation and everything in between. A Resveratrol review can help to determine not only its effectiveness for your body, but it’s compatibility with other natural substances and the form in which they will have the most benefit for you.

Of course, any supplement is only going to be effective if it is incorporated into a regular daily routine which promotes overall health. Proper exercise and a balanced diet, rich in vegetables, proteins, fruits and other nutrients must be the first step in any health plan. Resveratrol reviews show that its effectiveness is improved when used as part of a healthy lifestyle.

Comprehensive natural supplements, when used properly, have been shown to produce a wide range of effects from alleviating the symptoms of depression to increasing energy to reducing the signs of aging by improving skin tone. A Resveratrol review shows that this can be the single most important advance in terms of slowing your bodys aging process.

We all want to turn back the hands of time and research suggests that using a comprehensive natural supplement which includes Resveratrol may be the key to doing so. So don’t take chances when it comes to your health. Do your research and find a supplement which will work for you and the news can be good for your health too!

Resveratrol Ultra Pure Formula – Dr Oz Pure Resveratrol Endorsement

Tuesday, September 15th, 2009
Rob R Carmichael asked:

Resveratrol “ultra pure”, Dr Oz believes can be the most “powerful” anti-aging tablet which will help you extend your life by 10, or even 20 years.

Resveratrol is a polyphenol found in certain plants which grows naturally to help protect them from dangerous bacterias.

If consumed however in large concentrations over prolonged periods of time, ultra pure resveratrol has now been medically proven to naturally cleanse and scrub your arteries.

Having arteries lined with manufactured toxins, doctors argue is a sure-fire way to an early grave, so having the ability to pop a tab each day to assist in the cleansing of your arteries is certainly a new treatment for longevity.

The U.S and Europe have some of the worst artery related statistics on record so reports that individuals can now treat this pandemic comes as welcome news to many.

The Okinawans consume pure resveratrol in some of its highest concentrations and not only do individuals here work well into their nineties, they have one of the largest centenarian populations in the world.

However, it’s not just longevity that this daily anti-oxidant has helped contribute to.

For centuries, Okinawans have been using Knotweed, where their ultra pure resv is found to treat a number of ailments.

Treatments include allergic and inflammatory disorders as well as offering lipid therosclerosis medication and liver ailments to assist in the recovery of Hepatitis B.

In fact, aside from these additional medicinal uses, if you are born and raised in Okinawa, you are 86% less likely to develop cancer than if you were born in the U.S.

This is a startling statistic and one which still has scientists baffled.

You may read that ultra pure resveratrol prevents cancer, but this is not true and there is no medical journal in the west to empirically prove this.

HOWEVER:

It cannot be denied that excessive continual use of resveratrol certainly provides so much more than you will find in the western diets, so however reserved and in some ways arrogant we are in the west to the benefits of non-western empirically proven medicines – Dr OZ argues, there is a lot more than meets the eye with ultra pure resveratrol.

Resveratrol – Tips to Buy Resveratrol

Tuesday, September 15th, 2009
Ashley Hilton asked:

Resveratrol gained a lot of popularity very quickly. Thanks to its coverage by national channels and endorsements by some celebrities. It is no doubt a very nutritious and vitamin rich supplement but you may be ripped off your money if you do not pay attention to the details of what you are buying. The popularity of Resveratrol has opened gates of opportunity for those who want to make some fast bucks by selling fake Resveratrol products.

Following are a few tips that may come in handy before you buy some Resveratrol supplement.

It is a constituent of Red wine but it does not mean that red wine extract based products will contain as much nutrition as a pure compound. Just read the label carefully and check if the product is genuine. It is good to check the actual percentage of different ingredients in the final product. Make sure that the product clearly says “Resveratrol based “or something similar. If it is extract based, try looking for some other supplement. It is always better to go for pills rather than juice or some other form of the supplement. It saves you a lot of effort that you spend measuring the right quantity of this compound. Just take a pill a day are forget it If you order online, make sure that you read a few things about it. Try to find out as much as you can about the offer. Free trial offers are definitely worth trying as long as you get money back guarantee.

How to Buy Resveratrol – The Simple Guide

Tuesday, September 15th, 2009
Harry J. Andersohn asked:

There certainly has been a lot made lately about Resveratrol — something that is quickly gaining a reputation for being one of the most effective anti-aging supplements around.

Resveratrol’s reputation is well-deserved in my opinion, but I’ve also noticed in recent months that a lot of manufacturers and retailers are starting to market what I call “faux Resveratrol.”

By this I mean that the supplements that they’re selling, and labeling as Resveratrol, really may not be what you think.

This shouldn’t come as a total shock. Whenever you have something that is in such high demand the way Resveratrol is right now, you’re going to have unscrupulous businessmen trying to capitalize on it at the cost of health-conscious consumers like you and me.

I want to give you a couple examples of some things I found on the Internet in just the past couple of days — both of which prove that you have to be extremely careful when you set out to buy Resveratrol.

By the way, down at the and of this story I’m also going to show you the very best resource I’ve found for finding quality Resveratrol. So it’s not all bad news!

And I’ll also show you a little trick that will allow you to get a supply of Resveratrol completely for free.

So please stay tuned for that. It will be worth it.

Now, let’s just talk about a couple of examples of how you can get into trouble when you buy Resveratrol and don’t really know what it is that you’re looking for.

I did a search recently in Google to find some sources where I could buy Resveratrol online. I was offered a ton of options, including three different products from three very well-known retailers here in the U.S.

What’s more, the prices were astounding. True high-quality Resveratrol can be a bit pricey if you don’t know where to look (remember, see below for some tips on where to go), so when I saw a few products for under 10 bucks, and one that was even under five dollars, I was intrigued.

But now here’s the problem — what these products were wasn’t Resveratrol. Instead, they were either what’s known as “grape seed extract,” or “red wine extract” — and there was no real mention anywhere of whether significant amounts of Resveratrol were in the product.

Now I’m not saying that these products don’t contain any Resveratrol. But I think it’s pretty clear that they don’t contain Resveratrol at the levels you would need in order to see the true benefit from taking it.

Unfortunately, it’s pretty easy to trick people and call a simple red wine extract Resveratrol, because so many people equate red wine with Resveratrol.

In truth, Resveratrol doesn’t even have to come from wine at all — it could even come from something such as Japanese Knotweed. (And I don’t think this stuff makes a very good Beaujolais.)

Yes, grape seeds and grape skins (and wine) are among the better known sources of Resveratrol, but they aren’t the only ones. It may seem obvious, but make sure the label says “Resveratrol” — not simply grape seed extract.

4 Things to Know Before You Buy Resveratrol

Monday, September 14th, 2009
Dan R Morris asked:

Looking to buy a resveratrol supplement? Well there’s a couple things you should know first.

1. Make sure you understand the side effects
2. Know that some products you buy will only be good for the first serving
3. Maybe Resveratrol is not the only antioxidant you need
4. How is resveratrol absorbed? It matters!

The side-effects are simple, there aren’t many. Of all the clinical trials results I’ve seen, only one has mentioned a possible side effect. The rest glorified there weren’t any. But you should know that resveratrol is not only and anti-inflammatory, it’s also a natural blood thinner. So if you’re on anti-coagulants or blood thinners – talk to your doctor first.

Resveratrol is an antioxidant, which means it naturally desires to donate electrons to unstable molecules to help them gain some stability. While many molecules do this, only antioxidants can do it without becoming unstable themselves. The problem is resveratrol doesn’t know that it’s supposed to be doing this once it is inside your body; therefore, it attempts to do this all the time. If you buy a bulk antioxidant product, one that does not provide sealed, individual servings, each time you open the container the resveratrol will be oxidized. This means that the second serving is much less effective than the first, and the last serving is really just a waste of time.

Red Wine has long been thought to be the reason behind the French Paradox. It wasn’t until recently did scientists discover the power of resveratrol. However, resveratrol isn’t the only antioxidant in wine. Other polyphenols, OPC, flavonoids, bioflavonids and other great nutrients are in wine. Together they have helped create healthy hearts. Look for an antioxidant supplement that contains a full spectrum of antioxidants including Resveratrol.

Finally, wine is the perfect ‘vehicle’ to deliver resveratrol to your body because resveratrol is absorbed best through ‘buccal absorption’ – that means through the mouth. All the swishing of wine that wine drinkers do really helps the resveratrol get into the bloodstream. Find a liquid supplement that will help deliver the most resveratrol to your blood.

Resveratrol – What Does Resveratrol Mean?

Monday, September 14th, 2009
Cindy Obama asked:

Has the whole buzz around resveratrol left you wondering as to what it actually is? A comparatively new discovery in the health food segment, resveratrol has carved a niche for itself as a natural antioxidant. If you too are smitten by the tremendous popularity that the food has gained, read on to know all about this wonder potion.

What Is The Need For Resveratrol?

This substance, prominently found in red wine, exists in nature as outer peels of grapes, peanuts and blueberries. While one might argue upon the need for resveratrol supplements in the first place when a bunch of grapes or a glass of wine could be natural and tastier alternatives, it is worth noting that these contain very little amounts of the miraculous ‘anti-aging’ substance. Supplements on the other hand, easily cater to the quantities required by our body.

How Does It Work?

Resveratrol’s main function in plants is to ward off viruses, dust and disease causing bacteria that might harm them. Various researches conducted show that it works pretty much in the same fashion for humans. Its antioxidant properties strengthen the immune system and protect the body from the deadliest of diseases and infections.

Why Should I Opt For It?

You must be wondering as to what is the need for this particular variety when a host of similar options are available in the market? The answer to this is quite simple: a natural supplement is way better than a synthetic one. It is outright foolishness to subject your body to harmful side effects when anti aging and increased longevity could be achieved with something as natural as the natural resveratrol supplement.

You must have got a fair idea of the immense potential of this wonder potion by now. As far as choosing a supplement is concerned, with a wide variety on offer both online and otherwise, one is surely spoilt for choice. So, if you really want to retain your youth and fight the ill effects of aging, there is no better alternative than this miraculous anti-aging supplement

Resveratrol Scams – Warning! 2 Insidious Lies About Resveratrol Supplements You Must Not Miss

Monday, September 14th, 2009
Tina Bardo asked:

Who else wants to discuss the amazing benefits of resveratrol? If you are anything like the vast majority of our readers, the simple truth is that you are really STOKED at the possibilities that resveratrol has to not only extend your life, but make you happier, healthier and more energetic to boot!

But like all really good things these days, unfortunately, amidst all of the great scientific studies and positive press this wonder antioxidant is getting, slowly but surely, the hands of many manipulative marketing companies are getting involved, and separating the fact, from fiction is getting more challenging!

Filed Under: Fact or Fiction? Resveratrol is a Proven Way to Cure Cancer

Unfortunately, this is fiction, even though you’ll now read it occasionally online. The simple truth is that it appears that in lab tests, animals fed resveratrol were able to avoid cancer to some degree, especially as compared to the “control” group who got none, but to state this factually about human beings, at this point, is WAY premature!

Filed Under: Fact or Fiction? One Glass of Red Wine A Day is Sufficient for Resveratrol Supplementation

This is simply untrue on the OTHER side of the street completely! For example, some of the more popular rez supplements that we’ve written articles about, and previously reviewed have the equivalent of 1000 or MORE glasses of wine per serving. None of the scientists who are currently studying it and it’s effect on aging, disease and extending life believe the answer is going to be more wine..:-) What they believe, instead, is that extracting the resveratrol itself, and serving it up in a supplement or pill form that is most conducive to the human body will be the key to seeing just how much this little wonder “drug” can really do for us individually….and as a species overall!

Resveratrol ULTRA – Resveratrol Reviews by Dr OZ

Monday, September 14th, 2009
Rob R Carmichael asked:

Dr OZ, the eminent physician on the Oprah show recently endorsed Resveratrol Ultra as one of the few resveratrol products to really “pack a punch”.

Resveratrol is derived from the polyphenol fungi which grows naturally on plants to help protect them from bacteria.

Dietitians have found through seven years of extensive studies that when pure resv is consumed on a daily basis, it will naturally cleanse and scrub your arteries.

Having the ability to scrape dangerous toxins from your arteries is important for a number of reasons.

The first, is that the plain truth of achieving longevity is through having healthy arteries and a healthy heart.

If your arteries remain clogged then your heart will not function properly and this will result in a number of ailments manifesting.

Secondly, as opposed to having the ability to extend your life, some peoples arteries are in such a sorry state, that aside from living longer, some would like to have the ability to reach a natural age, rather than succumb to an early grave.

The U.S and Europe have some of the worst related artery fatality statistics on record, so having the ability to naturally cleanse the arteries without committing to any exercise, Dr OZ argues, is one quick fix to an ever growing American pandemic.

Thirdly, having clean arteries will not only provide strength to your heart but your skin will also benefit.

How healthy we are on the inside is reflected on the outside and what dietitians observe as the “resveratrol glow”, resveratrol ultra, which is a highly concentrated anti-oxidant delivers what doctors argue is the most powerful artery cleanser.

When accompanied with an Acai Berry face cream however, both celebrities Dr Oz and Dr Acai (Mr Periconne) believe, is the fastest way to replenishing the skin, eliminating wrinkles and obviously extending your longevity which has now been medically proven with resveratrol ultra, by at least 10 if not 15 to 20 years.

If you are slightly dubious about either of these anti-aging products which have currently taken the anti- aging market by storm, or would like a FREE TRIAL before one of the big manufacturers snaps them up and starts charging a ridiculous price.

The Resveratrol Review – Are They Factual? Find Out

Monday, September 14th, 2009
Joan Gosselin asked:

Can you trust the information that you see in a resveratrol review? Recently, I read several resveratrol reviews and one of them was written by someone that works directly for the company. Her claim was that the supplement was effective, but she didn’t say what effects she noticed.

The truth is that you aren’t likely to notice any effects from a single ingredient supplement. Consumer opinions are often helpful, but when it comes to a resveratrol review, there is simply nothing that anyone can tell you.

When it comes to this phytochemical or plant compound, if you prefer, the believed health benefits are long term, preventative measures. There are no known short term benefits.

When combined with other nutrients, a person is likely to notice increased energy, better looking skin and possibly some relief from long-term ailments, but single-ingredients supplements won’t provide those effects.

In one of the resveratrol reviews that I read, the woman claimed that the supplement caused her to have a yeast infection. That is literally impossible, if she is referring to what most of us think of as a yeast infection.

As a phytoalexin, the compound does have anti-bacterial activity in the plant. In other words, in the grape vines the substance can kill invading pathogens, possibly bacteria, possibly fungus. Researchers don’t know for sure with this one.

In the human body, any anti-bacterial activity would be mild at best. At high doses, it could “possibly” disrupt the natural beneficial bacterial flora that inhabits the intestines, but it couldn’t cause a yeast infection.

That’s the problem with reading resveratrol reviews. These people have not done the research. They use a cause and effect approach to comment on the effectiveness of a substance.

I would like to read a resveratrol review written by someone that started taking it when they were very young and had lived to be over 100 years old without developing any type of cancer.

But, you won’t read resveratrol reviews like that. The substance was only identified about 20 years ago.
I have no doubt that trans-resveratrol (the active type) is good for my health.

The supplement that I take contains it, but it contains many other bio-active ingredients as well, over 70 to be specific. Since I started taking that supplement, I have increased energy, my hair looks healthier, my skin looks better and basically, I feel great.

But, the real reason that I started taking it is not something that you’ll read about in a resveratrol review.

There is a history of heart disease, Alzheimer’s and cancer in my family. Trans-resveratrol, gingko biloba, green tea extract and curcumin, among other things, have been shown to prevent these diseases.

The studies are considered preliminary, but I believe that I need all of the help that I can get.

Instead of reading resveratrol reviews, you might want to read some of the consumer comments written by people that take multi-nutritional supplements.

It’s not a resveratrol review that you’re really looking for. You’re looking for results.

Go to my website now to read all about the benefits of a multi-nutrient supplement that contains resveratrol and other amazing minerals and herbal extracts that work in synergy with one another to provide maximum impact on your health. I know you won’t be disappointed.

Are Side Effects a Concern With Resveratrol?

Monday, September 14th, 2009
Charles Strong asked:

Resveratrol side effects are a topic of some discussion as this naturally produced chemical has been incorporated into a number of comprehensive dietary supplements. As with any supplement, vitamin or medication, possible complications are a legitimate cause for concern, but the more you can learn about Resveratrol the more you’ll be able to ease your mind.

Resveratrol is a plant chemical found in red grapes and grape seeds and the products made from them, including juice and red wine. Resveratrol has been shown to have anti-oxidant, anti-inflammatory and cholesterol lowering properties, making it an important addition to any health regimen. With its range of helpful properties it is known to do everything from preventing heart disease and some cancers to lowering cholesterol levels and even slowing the progress of Alzheimer’s Disease.

While the inclusion of a comprehensive daily supplement including Resveratrol in your regular routine can be very beneficial, Resveratrol side effects do exist and it is important that you be aware of any potential risks. On the plus side, direct adverse reactions to Resveratrol have yet to be reported, but there are some specific areas of caution which should be heeded.

Since Resveratrol has some estrogen related properties, women with estrogen sensitive conditions should consult a doctor before taking it. Also, Resveratrol can act as a blood thinner, so anyone taking blood thinning medications is strongly urged to consult a doctor before beginning to take a supplement which contains Resveratrol. As with any supplement or medication, nursing or pregnant women and anyone taking prescription medications should also use caution when taking Resveratrol.

While Resveratrol side effects are relatively limited, the benefits of this natural substance have been shown to be wide spread, affecting everything from circulation and joint function to respiratory health. Resveratrol is particularly effective when used in combination with other natural substances as part of a comprehensive dietary supplement.

When combined with the effects of other minerals, amino acids, enzymes and anti-oxidants, Resveratrol can be part of a long term regimen to combat the signs of aging. Dietary supplements containing natural substances such as these can help to bolster the body’s natural defenses and even reverse damage caused by environmental irritants.

As part of a healthy lifestyle which includes a balanced diet, proper exercise and adequate hydration, a daily natural supplement can be your best weapon in the fight against aging. Not only can natural supplements leave you feeling energized and strong, they can help to reverse the effects of aging on everything from your internal systems to your skin and hair. Despite possible Resveratrol side effects, this can be the most important step you’ll ever take in terms of your overall health.

You should never put anything into your body that you don’t trust, but studies show there is no reason not to trust Resveratrol and other natural substances. Just take the time to research and make sure you are using the best possible product for you and you’ll be looking and feeling better in no time!

Resveratrol Dosage – How Much is Too Much?

Monday, September 14th, 2009
Cindy Rhyes asked:

Since resveratrol experiments have been carried out on animal subjects, the proper amount of resveratrol to be taken by humans to achieve the same positive effects is yet to be determined. Assessment of resveratrol dosage has become a widely debated issue among those who would like to maximize from this compound’s curative effects.

Based on resveratrol research done on mice and insects, scientists were able to offer initial dosage recommendations for humans. In the study, the mice were given 20 mg resveratrol dose per day, and genetic changes showing anti-aging characteristics were revealed. In parallel with this, a safe step would be to consume 20 mg. dosage in the initial stages. There have been resveratrol manufacturers claiming that 500mg to 1000mg in every dosage poses no issues to be alarmed about. However, participants in a study taking these specific doses reported anemia, blood thinning, anxiety and diarrhea.

The good thing about these side effects is that they are completely reversible. Needless to say, resveratrol in high dosages may not be advisable and a moderate dosage is best especially when trying a new supplement.

The person’s weight should also be considered in determining dosage guidelines. Studies have proven that it would take around 4.9 mg for every kilogram of body weight for resveratrol to be effective in creating the same healthy effects as from a calorie restricted diet. For example, a 334 mg dosage should be recommended to an individual weighing 150 pounds. The effects of taking the recommended resveratrol dosage may not easily be noticeable, but given the research placed unto it, people can expect healthier bodies and longer lives.

However promising the health benefits of resveratrol seem to be, there is no sufficient information to date regarding its long term effects. It is also extremely important to consider the theory that resveratrol may possibly encourage breast cancer formation due to its chemical structure being closely similar to that of phytoestrogen. However, despite this negative assumption, the weighty positive effects that resveratrol can bring to the human body are reasons strong enough for people to continue wanting to benefit from its use.

In the end, the individuals shall be the ones to assess the resveratrol dosage suitable for their needs. The safest method would be to take lower dosages which can be gradually increased over a period of time. Resveratrol is one antioxidant that can help prolong precious lives, and drinking this fountain of life is one wise move.

Who Makes the Best Resveratrol? Dr Oz Reviews the Latest Anti-Aging Tablet

Monday, September 14th, 2009
Rob R Carmichael asked:

Who makes the best resveratrol? Well Resv as it’s also known is manufactured in partnership with two companies ever since Longevinex(R) (long-jev-in-ex), the medical research organization teamed up with Xi’an Elephant Sci & Tech Co., Ltd.

This company is based in China and also produces, Oak Barrel, Extract, Dao Zhuang Kettle and Color Zinc Steel Tube which just demonstrates how varied there markets are.

Essentially, all the Resveratrol you see sold on the market is the same, it’s just marketed through different vendors, much like most products are. They’re just a different face for the same product.

Obviously costs to mass market this new anti aging supplement are far cheaper in South East Asia than they are the west, but that does not necessarily mean the quality is any different.

Like all health products sold on the market in the U.S and Europe, each has to pass the stringent quality laws in place to protect the consumer.

To break it down Resveratrol is made of the Resveratrol herb who’s source is a Polygonum cuspidatum Sieb. Et Zucc Veratrum grandiflorum Pinus.

This may sound like gobble-dee-gook so in layman’s term Resv is the fungus found in the red grape skin which grows naturally to fight off bacteria.

The resveratrol capsules sold on the market are 98% specified from the original compound so you are essentially getting 98% proof of the original ingredient found in the Sardinian grape which offers itself as an anti aging supplement.

Studies first revealed in to the effects of resveratrol were first made aware in the mid 1980’s when a French scientists became curious as to why the French remained so thin considering their high dairy diet.

Studies then progressed and as Dr Oz, Oprah’s resident dietitian observed on the National Geographic findings of where the largest population of centenarians are based, Sardinia became the topic of longevity discussions as they were found hold the male centenarian record.

Resveratrol is in effect an artery scrubber which in tests has demonstrated it: “Delays age-related deterioration and mimics transcriptional aspects of dietary restriction through extending life span”. Cell Metabolism 2008 Aug;8(2):157-68.

Resveratrol is sold in the bottle, and each bottle contains 60 capsules which is the equivalent to roughly 1000 bottles of Sardinian red wine so the concentration is obviously high!

Resveratrol Supplements and the Benefits of Resveratrol in Fighting the Aging Process

Monday, September 14th, 2009
Valerie Rosenbaum asked:

Most resveratrol supplements are not worth the investment. While researchers have shown many resveratrol benefits in the laboratory, the nutrient must reach your bloodstream in order to perform its magic. The latest research indicates that it does not usually make it to the bloodstream.

They have tested people’s blood after drinking wine on an empty stomach, drinking it with food and taking uncoated resveratrol supplements. None of these caused a significant increase in the levels of trans-resveratrol in the bloodstream.

All of the studies concerning resveratrol benefits were conducted using trans-resveratrol. The supplement with the highest trans-resveratrol content is standardized to a 50% concentration. If an enteric coating is applied, this type of supplement can increase the blood level of trans-resveratrol, but most companies don’t use the right form and they don’t include an enteric coating.

You won’t get any resveratrol benefits from a powder or liquid form. You might get some by drinking red wine, but researchers believe that the benefit of red wine is not due to its trans-resveratrol content. The amount that you would have to drink to significantly affect circulating blood levels would be damaging to the liver.

So, resveratrol supplements are a good idea, as long as the manufacturer uses the right form, combines it with other important nutrients and wraps the whole thing up in an enteric coating, to insure that it reaches the upper intestine, where it can pass through to the bloodstream.

Some of the resveratrol benefits include a healthier heart, a reduced risk of cancer, better functioning metabolism and possibly an extension of your lifespan, if the results of the laboratory studies can be transferred to humans.

No one is sure how or why it works in the ways that it does. There are only theories.

One of the most convincing is that trans-resveratrol increases the activity of a gene that can reduce a free radical known as superoxide. Superoxide molecules are not highly toxic, but they can, over time, cause DNA degeneration.

If this theory is correct, resveratrol supplements should include vitamin C, enzymes and glutathione. The gene reduces superoxide to hydrogen peroxide, which is also a free radical. Vitamin C and other ascorbates, reduce hydrogen peroxide to water. If glutathione and enzymes are also present, vitamin C remains more active for a longer period of time.

Some of the better supplement manufacturers include the right combination of antioxidants and other nutrients to provide the greatest effect. Resveratrol benefits are included among them.

There are hundreds of different nutrients and plant extracts that are known to be beneficial to human health. It would be nearly impossible to include all of them in your diet. Some of them are not plants that we normally eat. Extracts from marigold, for example, are known to protect the eyes from oxidative damage. When was the last time that you ate a marigold?

So, supplementation is important and necessary, if you want to live the longest, healthiest life possible. But, single-ingredient resveratrol supplements are not your best choice for supplementation.

Resveratrol – What Are the Health Benefits of Resveratrol?

Monday, September 14th, 2009
Adam Clark asked:

Resveratrol has been the subject of some of the most exciting anti-aging and cardiovascular research in decades. It’s a high potency, all natural supplement that helps to provide high levels of powerful naturally occurring antioxidants.

Resveratrol has been in the media spotlight on such TV programs as the famous CBS 60 Minutes interview, ABC news and more recently The Oprah Winfrey Show. It helps to protect the body against cardiovascular disease and has an anti-aging effect, two of the major concerns for health care as we age.

What Are the Health Benefits of Resveratrol?

Several research studies suggest that foods such as peanuts, mulberries, cranberries, grapes (red wine), etc. that’s high in the antioxidant resveratrol may reduce the risks of coronary heart disease, cardiovascular disease and pre-mature aging. And it can provide more effective protection than the popular well known antioxidants vitamins C and E.

The effect resveratrol that’s found in red wine is one of the explanations given for what’s become known as the “French paradox”. The French eat a diet that’s notoriously high in fat, the same as the Scottish people. Yet the French have one of the lowest occurrences of cardiovascular disease, while the Scottish people have one of the highest. The answer that researchers have given is that the French tend to drink more red wine (made from grape skins), which of course is abundant with resveratrol. It appears to do a remarkable job.

Modern technology seems to have added to the problems of cardiovascular disease with saturated fats, trans fatty acids, processed foods, fast foods, etc. While technology has improved cardiovascular problems have increased. The powerful antioxidants contained in the skin of grapes, resveratrol in particular, appears to offset some of the effects by lowering the bad cholesterol (LDL) while raising the good cholesterol (HDL) in our bodies.

Antioxidants helps to minimize the damage done to the body from oxygen free radicals. It also plays a crucial role in pre-mature aging, as we age and the body begins to weaken and antioxidants protects against heart disease, cancer, diabetes, Alzheimer’s and other diseases that attacks a body and muscles that has weakened with age.

Resveratrol is being touted as a dietary anti-aging solution, and while age related problems are of major importance, just as important, maybe even more, is the extra protection it provides promoting good cardiovascular health.

The Eastern philosophy is prevention, while in the West it’s curing the disease. While the both sides are merging and giving us the best of both worlds, as a former stroke victim I can personally attest that Eastern philosophy of prevention is of critical importance, in order to cure a health problem you need to first have it. Also that it’s possible to be physically fit and not healthy at the same time. Don’t find out the hard way.

Resveratrol Side Effects

Sunday, September 13th, 2009
Sara J. Banks asked:

Resveratrol is proving to be one of the most promising breakthroughs for abundant health. Modern science, after years of research, is verifying the amazing anti-aging benefits attributed to resveratrol. Minimal negative resveratrol side effects are greatly over shadowed by the overwhelming amount of research showing its positive effects.

Some volunteer participants taking mega doses of resveratrol have noted negative side effects, including diarrhea, abnormal blood tests, over thinning of the blood, headaches, and anxiety. These side effects are reversible, but it’s recommended to increase dosages gradually, taking into consideration your body size and current health.

Resveratrol has mild estrogenic activity that has not been evaluated in humans yet, so it’s a good idea to consult with your physician if you have estrogen-sensitive conditions to avoid any possible adverse side effects. Additionally, people on blood thinning medication, since resveratrol is a blood thinner, should get their doctors recommendation before considering resveratrol use. If you’re on prescription medication, it’s always a good idea to check with your health practitioner. Moral, if you have any serious health issues, talk with your doctor first.

Compared to the relatively few negative side effects noted above, there is an abundance of positive side effects. Studies show more and more diversity of benefits to a vast number of today’s most common diseases of aging.

Examples:

Diabetes – The Cell Metabolism journal, published in October 2007, cites research conducted at the Chinese Academy of Science indicating that resveratrol may help prevent the onset of Type II Diabetes, which affects over 170 million people worldwide. Endurance – According to an earlier study published online in Cell, resveratrol boosts endurance and limits weight gain. Obesity – Resveratrol demonstrates potential of fighting off the development of fat cells, both by preventing weight gain and stopping some health problems caused by obesity. This was discovered by a team of scientists from the University of Ulm in southwest Germany. Alzheimer’s – Researchers have learned that resveratrol appears to be one of the most powerful substances ever discovered for both the prevention and treatment of Alzheimer’s. (Source: Alternatives, p.46, December 2007) Brain Damage – According to John Hopkins University, researchers have found resveratrol can help minimize brain damage that can transpire following a stroke. Pancreatic Cancer – Resveratrol deactivates the mitochondria of pancreatic cells, making chemotherapy more effective, according to scientists at the University of Rochester.

Resveratrol supplements have been used for many years now with no major negative side effects reported. Instead, the positive effects of resveratrol take center stage. Users report greater energy, mental clarity and better sleep. Science shows lowered cholesterol, prolonged life spans in test animals, anti tumor and anti cancer development properties, metabolic balance, and anti microbial and anti fungal properties.

If you were to be able to view the positive and negative side effects on a balance in front of you, clearly the positive out weighs the negative significantly. It would appear the future for resveratrol is bright.

Do Your Resveratrol Supplements Provide Any Health Benefits?

Sunday, September 13th, 2009
Mark David Peters asked:

Undoubtedly this herbal extract from grapes or other botanical sources will continue to be widely acclaimed. Its potential health benefits are endless. It is even billed as an anti-aging pill.

Many brands of resveratrol pills are promoted, with new brands popping up frequently. But the manufacturers of these pills often make disease claims that are forbidden by the FDA, and borrow science that was conducted in a lab dish to claim their products are equivalent to research-grade resveratrol.

To date, there are no published human studies involving resveratrol supplements, only population studies of red wine drinkers who obtain resveratrol from their favorite beverage.

Resveratrol Degrades Rapidly

Laboratory researchers know that, once extracted from a botanical source, resveratrol is unstable, subject to degradation by light, heat and oxygen. Exposure to light can cause resveratrol to photo-isomerize, that is, change into a different molecule – from trans to cis resveratrol. [Se Pu 22:583-8, 2004; J Chromatography A 1074:133-8, 2005]

It is trans- resveratrol that activates the sirtuin 1 gene involved in DNA repair and which is believed to produce the anti-aging benefits of resveratrol.

Harvard researchers, who initially reported on the potential health benefits of resveratrol in 2003, have continually indicated most resveratrol dietary supplements are useless.

This is being ignored by the supplement makers. There is little effort taken to preserve resveratrol, other than place it in a dark bottle, once it is extracted.

One new brand makes the deceptive claim that it provides 400 milligrams of “red wine extract” per capsule — but that is not resveratrol, it is powder from red grapes.

When tested by an independent laboratory, the 400 milligram red wine extract provided less than 1 milligram of resveratrol per capsule. The manufacturer’s website even unfairly maligns its competitors, stating: “It’s shocking to see formulas that have as little as FIVE milligrams of red wine extract in them – that’s a major rip-off!”

Resveratrol, like many other dietary supplements, including vitamin C, can degrade upon exposure to the elements. Special encapsulation techniques must be employed to preserve polyphenols like resveratrol.

One brand of resveratrol, Longevinex, encapsulates resveratrol in an airtight opaque capsule (Licaps, Capsugel) which is then placed in a foil-sealed package and has been tested to maintain its contents without degradation for over a year.

Anticipate resveratrol pills to continue to be widely promoted, but when it comes to actually getting trans-resveratrol in a supplement, it’s a hit and miss proposition.

Resveratrol – Fountain of Youth Serum

Sunday, September 13th, 2009
Heather May asked:

People have been searching for the fountain of youth for thousands of years, but one new supplement may actually be the answer. The newest “miracle drug” is getting a lot of attention. Resveratrol has found its way to Barbara Walters, Oprah’s Dr. Perricone and even 60 Minutes. Everyone, even researchers are surprised by the effects of what could be the next must-have supplement. Its shown promise fighting cancer, diabetes and heart disease — it even helps with weight loss. The Resveratrol anti-aging properties and wrinkle fighting powers are getting a lot of attention.

Studies shows that Resveratrol benefits don’t just slow the aging process, they can actually repair wrinkles and give you a more youthful appearance.

The Resveratrol content acts the same as red wine benefits, but because scientists finally isolated the stuff that makes red wine so healthy, they have been able to make it much more potent. Doctors found a way to make Resveratrol 1,000 times more potent, using it to basically reset our biological clock. So, instead of drinking 1,000 bottles of red wine, anyone seeking the fountain of youth can just pop a Resveratrol supplement instead.

“We stumbled upon this molecule in red wine,” said Dr. David Sinclare. “Resveratrol seeks out the aging gene and shuts it off.”

Research has long shown that powerful antioxidants like Resveratrol may improve skin health and stop wrinkles by protecting from damage caused by the sun and other free radicals, as well as slow down the aging process by protecting systems of the body from this cellular damage. The Resveratrol source is red grapes or a the Japanese knotweed plant — two things that have always been known to healthy, but before Resveratrol research, nobody knew just how extremely beneficial they were. Resveratrol studies are still ongoing, but unlike the scores of other anti-aging supplement pills out there, nobody is denying the amazing benefits.

“If the promise holds true, I think this has the chance to change healthcare,” said researcher Dr. Kristoff Westfall.

“Antioxidants can impede and even repair the damage to skin cells that come with aging… Soft, radiant, younger-looking skin is the gratifying result,” said Dr. Nicholas Perricone, author of the Wrinkle Cure.

“Resveratrol could be “one of the genetic keys that could reset our biological clock,” said Barabara Walters.

“Forget dieting, forget the sweaty business of working out — just pop a pill and you’re in guilt free, couch potato paradise,” said 60 Minutes correspondent Morley Safer.

Resveratrol vitamins will soon be on everyone’s shelf next to Vitamin C and D and it may be the fountain of youth that people have been searching for. Try a simple free trial and see just how good Resveratrol actually is. Erase wrinkles and fine lines, add years to your life, lose weight and stay energized all with one little purple supplement. You owe it to yourself and your body to try what could well be the end to anti-aging fads and false wrinkle cures and experience the benefits of resveratrol.

Resveratrol Powder – Is it the Best Value For Your Money?

Sunday, September 13th, 2009
Mo Devine asked:

Resveratrol powder is not your best choice for supplementation. The powders are expensive, and the majority of them are derived from Japanese knotweed or polygonum cuspidatum, the plant’s scientific name. Most people have heard of this antioxidant because it is present in the skins of red grapes and in all varieties of red wine.

The content of these natural sources varies, of course, but don’t let the supplement companies’ claims fool you. All red wine has some resveratrol content. It may be small, but mega-doses are not always better.

The reason that companies use Japanese knotweed is that it is cheaper and more concentrated. There’s nothing wrong with a supplement that is derived from this source, but there is something wrong with taking 500-1500mg per day, which is what some of the supplement companies recommend.

You see, there is another compound found in knotweed. It’s called emodin. Emodin is a laxative. According to one manufacturer, their powders contain 10% emodin.

So at 500-1500mg per day, you would be getting 50-150mg of emodin. For someone who needs a laxative, 20 to 50mg of emodin is effective.

For a manufacture to recommend that you take this much resveratrol powder per day is irresponsible. The daily use of laxatives has a negative side effect: Your body becomes dependent on them. If you are irregular, increased fiber and water intake is what you need. Ask any doctor.

500-1500mg of the extract provides 100mg to 300mg of resveratrol per day. The recommendations that I trust are for 50mg per day of the total extract, which provides 25mg of trans-resveratrol, the form that can cross through the intestine and enter the bloodstream, if the supplement has an enteric coating.

One reason that the recommended dosages of resveratrol powder are so high is that manufacturers know that stomach acid has a negative affect on the supplement, rendering it all but useless to the human body.

They believe that if a person takes a higher dosage, “some” of the antioxidant will enter the bloodstream. But there’s no real reason to believe that.

You might get 25mg of trans-resveratrol circulating in the bloodstream by taking 500-1500mg of resveratrol powder per day, but you might not. You certainly would experience the laxative affect. So, you better stay close to the bathroom.

Knotweed is a natural source of trans-resveratrol. In fact, it was actually first identified in this medicinal plant. Knotweed has natural antibiotic activity. Resveratrol was identified as the component that provided this effect.

In reasonable amounts, when an enteric coating is included and it is combined with other nutrients, trans-resveratrol is a good choice for supplementation. It may help prevent heart disease, high cholesterol, type II diabetes, obesity and cancer.

It has been shown to extend the lifespan of short-lived creatures and it could have the same effect on us humans. We’ll have to wait and see on that.

If there were nothing else wrong with a resveratrol powder, it wouldn’t be the best value for your money. You see, it simply does not contain enough nutrients.

Resveratrol Research – Does Resveratrol Work?

Saturday, September 12th, 2009
Matt Anderson asked:

There has long been a speculation that the French might in fact have a lower incidence of heart disease than America because of their love of red wine. Studies have shown that Resveratrol is a powerful antioxidant and that it can slow down the aging process so it would appear those earlier speculations could be correct.

A National Institute on Aging supports a 2006 study that concluded that this nutrient helps to enhance lifespan and health as we get older. But that’s not where the research ends. In fact it’s only the beginning.

While it’s well recognized that Resveratrol can play an important role in the reduction of disease related to age and chronic inflammation those tests are ongoing. There is current research being conducted at the University in Seoul, Korea in the Dept of Genetics on the effect of red wine extract on the human neurotypic cells with dopamine induced cytotoxicity. Studies also continue at the same university pertaining to Resveratrol and the role it can play in the prevention of a dopaminergic neurodegenerative disorders like Parkinson’s.

At Universidad Federal do Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil researchers study the positive effects of Resveratrol and its antioxidant properties that stop oxidative stress. The belief is that Resveratrol can assist in recovery from brain injury.

The Institute of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology in China is investigating the effect of this antioxidant on inhibiting ovarian carcinoma, and whether Resveratrol pills can reduce mastitis.

Harvard and MIT are both researching neuronal survival in mice model. The Resveratrol acts on the SIRT1 gene activating module, which is an important link in aging and neurodegenerative disorders in humans.

Recent research has shown that this red wine nutrient may weaken pancreatic cancer cells making them more responsive to chemotherapy. Tumors become more sensitive while normal cells become less.

“I think this is the most interesting and compelling story of our adult lives,” said Dr. Bryan Donohue, chief of the Division of Cardiology and medical director of the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory at UPMC Shadyside. “There’s an incredibly auspicious group of people, all accomplished in their own gigs, who have come together because of a mutual interest in Resveratrol. However this comes out, it will have a Pittsburgh stamp on it.”

There is a great deal of ongoing Resveratrol research and the next decade should be pretty exciting as more studies conclude and the true power of the red wine pill is known. Perhaps the French really knew the secret all along to staying younger and healthier so much longer.

There’s no question that there are exciting times ahead where Resveratrol is concerned. We can only imagine what research will confirm and what we may find this grape skin extract used for in the future. In fact, there’s likely to be a red wine pill released by on the large pharmaceutical companies.

And while we certainly don’t recommend indulging in red wine, there are currently Resveratrol supplements on the market so you might want to jump ahead of the research. There are plenty of potential benefits of this anti aging nutrient.

Resveratrol Effects – What Does Resveratrol Really Do? (You May Be Surprised at the Truth!)

Saturday, September 12th, 2009
Danny Fredricks asked:

Who else wants to know about real resveratrol effects on the body? If you are reading this right now, and are concerned about your health and well fare, I’m going to guess you probably already have a loose idea about resveratrol research, and how it MAY be able to help you live longer, live healthier and live HAPPIER as well. But if you aren’t entirely sure about the real effects of resveratrol, yet, your interested in learning more…..this article was written with you in mind!

Filed Under: OK… so how is resveratrol supposed to help my health?

Well, the truth is, scientists are NOT yet completely sure. What they do know, for certain, are the effects that resveratrol has in laboratory experiments, most notably on animal subjects. In many trials, this mysterious compound has given “new life” to mice, rats, fish and even fruit flies! Scientists have studied the “caloric restriction” effect that resveratrol seems to have as well, which means that even when fed an ordinary diet, animals supplemented with resveratrol seem to “mimic” the effect of being on a strict diet, which is one of the hallmarks of healthy life and life extension as well.

What about cancer and serious disease? Will resveratrol help to cure me of grave illness?

There is NOT enough conclusive proof to say for sure, but clearly, at this point, you would not want to “count” on this style treatment for anything that is life threatening, or potentially very grave. With that said, there have been amazing insights with resveratrol and cancer, with some widely reported clinical trials showing that supplementation seems to kill breast cancer cells in a test tube, and some equally significant findings in men suffering from prostate cancer as well. (please note: While encouraging, these remain yet to be proven in repeatable trials with real bodies like ours, so don’t get TOO enthusiastic just yet!)

Resveratrol Benefits For Fighting Cancer

Saturday, September 12th, 2009
Darragh Connolly asked:

There are many claims that Resveratrol can assist the body to overcome cancer, but many people are still wary of such claims. After all hasn’t science been searching for the all-important cure since research began into this fatal illness? One would certainly hope so! To discover that a potential cure may exist in every bottle of red wine has understandably raised hopes – and more than a few skeptical eyebrows. However, there is now vast evidence supporting these claims.

Cancer growth in the human body takes place in 3 stages: initial manifestation; promotion; and eventual propagation. It has been found that resveratrol interupts all 3 stages. Scientists now agree that practically every mechanism of tumor growth and progression is inhibited by resveratrol.

Resveratrol prevents cellular abnormlaities
There are an impressively high number of ways that resveratrol acts towards fighting cancer. Most cancers are caused and are propagated by genetic abnormalities in affected cells. Since resveratrol assists DNA in accurately producing healthy cells, even from damaged ones, this explains why resveratrol can inhibit the promotion of cancer. Another welcome side-effect of this process is looking and feeling younger, as genetic cell abnormalities do not persist.

Resveratrol boosts energy
Resveratrol acts at the cellular level to promote healthy functioning of the mitochondria. These important little organelles are involved in cell regulation and coordination, but they also produce chemical energy. A boost in energy levels, as reported by many resveratrol users, is often beneficial in fighting cancer and also dealing with many of the harsh medical treatments of cancer, such as chemo.

Resveratrol reduces the risk of cancer by improving cell operation
As previously mentioned, the mitochondria are involved in many of the inter-communications within the bodies cells. This process is called cell signalling. It is know that poor cell signalling can often cause cancer, hence, by improving the operation of mitochondria, resveratrol can thus help the body to remain cancer-free.

Resveratrol lowers superoxide levels
It also significantly increases the bodies MnSOD which reduces “superoxide”. Superoxide can result in mitochondrial instability and can trigger free radical chain reactions, which in turn, can lead to cancer.

Cancer cells die prematurely
Cancer metastasis is the means by which cancer spreads to other regions and organs via the blood and lymph. Resveratrol promotes cell destruction in malignant cells, while nurturing healthy ones. Thus cancerous cells are induced to die prematurely, limiting their impact on the body, and preventing cancer propagation by metastasis.

Resveratrol is an anti-oxidant polyphenol
Furthermore, like it’s sister nutrient the well-known Acai Berry, resveratrol is a polyphenol. This results in the rich coloring of these popular compounds. But it also means that they behave as anti-oxidants, cleansing the body of many toxins and neutralizing cancer-causing free radicals.

Resveratrol results in the lab
There have been countless scientific tests showing the beneficial effects of resveratrol on cancers and cancer tumor. In studies on mice, resveratrol administered orally was found to counteract skin cancer and tumor growth. In human cells tests, resveratrol was found to have inhibiting effects on many types of cancer: breast, skin, gastric, colon, esophageal, prostate and pancreatic cancer cells and leukemia. The best results have been obtained when resveratrol was applied directly to the surface of the affected cells in a laboratory environment. But are these resveratrol cancer benefits confined to the laboratory or can we expect the same results in orally-taken resveratrol supplements?

Can Resveratrol Supplements prevent cancer?
When considering resveratrol and cancer, it is too early to know whether supplements can produce the same results and actually cure cancer in humans. However there are some strong indications that these supplements are working well. There are many reports of people experiencing health benefits such as looking and feeling younger, weight loss, and increases in energy. Although prevention of cancer is a less quantifiable effect, these resveratrol supplements seemingly produce some astonishing results – preventing cancer may just be one of them.

Some evidence of the use of oral resveratrol in preventing cancer
Although it may take to prove, resveratrol cancer benefits have already been observed in diverse places such as France, Sardinia and Okinawa – where the risk of contracting the disease is far less than if you live in the United States. Since the inhabitants of these regions get their daily resveratrol fix orally – usually via red wine, or in the case of the Japanese via knotweed – this would appear to be a more than effective way of taking resveratrol. Thus, it seems rational that resveratrol pills may help prevent this fatal illness.

Resveratrol – Anti Aging – Why Dr Oz Recommended This Red Wine Pill on Oprah

Saturday, September 12th, 2009
Nicholas Bozek asked:

On a recent episode of Oprah, Dr Oz recommended the resveratrol anti aging supplement. The pill which comes from red wine has been found to increase longevity and increase energy. Dr Oz said in order to get the benefits without taking the supplement, we would have to consume over a dozen bottles of red wine every day.

The former heart surgeon says that with the right supplementation and diet, we could very well live into our second century of life with just as much energy as someone a quarter of the age. Dr Oz states that when the body does not have an excess of calories, our energy is not drained by the process of finding ways to store them. He also states that when our bodies are not burning through energy, the body cells are not getting used up and damaged. “The body is self healing, when we get a cut or bruise, the body heals it self. The only reason your body does not heal itself is because it’s too busy using up that energy to do other things.”

The resveratrol anti aging pills work by adding more strength to the cells. Our cells become more efficient and quicker to heal themselves.

Benefits of Resveratrol Anti Aging Pills

• Diminishes likelihood of age related diseases such as diabetes, Alzheimer’s and even cancer
• Reduces the risk of heart related disease
• Counters the effects of a high fat diet
• Increases energy
• Increases longevity

Due to these recent findings, the resveratrol anti aging pill has been gaining a lot of media exposure and is quickly becoming one of the most in demand supplements on the market today.

Resveratrol and Diabetes – Does it Work?

Saturday, September 12th, 2009
Karen A Graham asked:

Resveratrol and diabetes does it work? What a great question to ask. I’m sure that those who took part in the study for it would give you a resounding yes.

The study of resveratrol a minute molecular compound that is found in plants has come a long way since it was first examined many years ago.

It is a polyphenol known as a stilbene and has many wonderful properties that in lab animals etc have shown to have had some amazing results in the protection that it can provide.

Resveratrol and diabetes plus obesity are just two of the areas that have been looked at and the unique thing about the diabetic study is that it was the first study to be done on humans. All the other studies that had been carried out on resveratrol had been with lab animals, bacteria etc.

The results for the test came back as being very positive in helping to stabilize the body’s energy needs.   This meant that it was able to know when and how much sugar to release at any one time making sure that the body keeps its levels of sugar at the right level.

The other benefit that goes hand in hand with that was the fact that the blood sugar balance prevented binge eating so it also becomes extremely useful in treating obesity.

But resveratrol doesn’t stop there it provides protection from heart disease and cancer so making sure that you have a small daily amount is very important. The way that I ensure that I have resveratrol every day is by taking it as part of a wonderful combined supplement.

This supplement has over 70 amazing compounds that when blended together give a most powerful synergistic blend to protect the body from the ravages and diseases associated with aging.

Resveratrol and Cancer – Can Resveratrol Really Help?

Friday, September 11th, 2009
Ingrid Gillette asked:

Resveratrol is said to be a naturally occurring antioxidant  found in the skin of red grapes, blueberries, cranberries, nuts and red wine. Studies have shown it prevents estrogen from causing breast cancer.   A big risk of breast cancer is too much exposure to estrogen and most research has been looking on the co-mingling between estrogen and the reaction of its receptors on breast cancers. Resveratrol and cancer is an ongoing research that should be able to of great benefit to mankind in the future.

Resveratrol is capable of preventing the initial step that takes place when estrogen begins the procedure that go towards cancer development.   Researcher Rogan says “He believes that this could stop the whole progression that leads to breast cancer somewhere down the road.”

Studies in this arena is vigorously ongoing and it has also being shown that when the body’s system gets out of balance while processing estrogen, metabolites that are dangerous shows up.  The compounds which are toxic in nature will react with DNA  in the cells found in the breasts causing tumor growths to begin.

Resveratrol and cancer has very hopeful signs.  Keeping metabolites from interacting with DNA, a dosage of 10 micromoles per liter would significantly help in this regard.

Resveratrol taken in the right concentration can accomplish great healing as you know it has awesome healing properties and work to heal various health conditions such as: Diabetes, cancer and weight loss.

Getting the necessary amount of resveratrol in your daily diet is not possible from drinking red wine and eating blueberries, nuts, cranberries and purple grape juice.  However additional benefits of this great substance can be achieved from taking a supplement that has a high concentration of this substance.

When purchasing any supplement to enhance your health you want to make sure it is manufactured by a company that sticks to the highest standard, ensuring that you will truly benefit.

Finding pure, quality supplements made with natural ingredients can be difficult sometimes, since there are so many being advertised everyday, consumers are bombarded with different products from different companies all claiming to be the best.  But how can you tell.

I have done my own research on all the tiny details of these supplements to ensure they deliver on their promise.  I can tell you that the ingredients contained in this brand of supplement far outweigh any other that I have encountered in my years of doing these researches.

If you truly would like to slow down the aging process of the cells in your body, thereby prolonging life along with health, and to learn more about resveratrol and cancer, visit my website where I have gathered a lot of information to help you make a very important decision for you and your family’s health.

Resveratrol Benefits Revealed – The Health Benefits of Resveratrol

Friday, September 11th, 2009
Faith Lehane asked:

In 2006 new research was published regarding resveratrol health benefits. It concluded that resveratrol benefits included improving overall health and protecting against health related issues that exist because of diets high in fat.

These studies were done to show the overall effectiveness as well as highlight the benefits of resveratrol. The health benefits of resveratrol include protecting against diets which are high in fat, weight loss properties, and a range of aging properties.

Resveratrol can be naturally found in red wine, peanuts, and even grape juice. All of this was discovered by experimenting on middle aged male mice.

The main experiment was completed with three sets of mice. Once basic control group, one group with a high fat diet, and one group with a high fat diet along with high doses of resveratrol.

The group of mice that were solely on a high fat diet gained weight and the group of mice that were on a high fat diet along with receiving the resveratrol benefits showed zero signs of insulin resistance or fatty livers, both of which were common in the group solely on a fatty diet. This group which received resveratrol also lived much longer and had a much higher level of energy.

These benefits have been credited as the foundation of the French Paradox. It is a common occurrence for all French peoples to drink a glass of red wine with each meal. It was then discovered that the French also are much less likely to have heart disease regardless of a high fat diet.

Having a glass of red wine with your meals is the same as a .5% dose of resveratrol that was received by mice in the experiments. Even though the experiment was done only on mice it is very safe to be taken by humans as well. You can get the health benefits in both supplemental doses and concentrated doses.

By eating one meal a day that is high in fat can significantly add to the bad cholesterol that is in your body and steadily decrease your health over a period of time. This is where the resveratrol benefits can help. They will help improve your health over the long run.

The resvertrol health benefits are similar to restricting your caloric intake. Benefits of resveratrol keep both the heart and skin from aging as quickly. This naturally occurring antioxidant that is the key to slowing down the aging process as well as create a barrier against disease.

Resveratrol Side Effects – What You Need to Know

Friday, September 11th, 2009
Angela Philips asked:

Are there any resveratrol side effects? With more people taking it you need to make sure you are not taking a supplement that can cause unknown damage to your health.

Resveratrol is found in fruits, grapes and wine and the supplements that are made from them have a higher concentration than found in any of these products.

Taking a supplement will give you forty times the amount found in a glass of red wine.

Research and studies going back over twenty years have shown it to have many benefits including:-

1. Anti aging-by looking after the skin.
2. Lowers cholesterol levels and looks after the heart.
3. Lowers blood pressure.
4. Fights some types of cancers to enable them to respond better to conventional medicine.

Studies with mice have shown that after being given the equivalent dose that a person would take in a supplement has remarkable effects on health and slows down the ageing process markedly.

Studies have also shown that even if a person takes several supplements on a daily basis not only are there no resveratrol side effects but the anti aging and health benefits increase.

What does this mean?

This means there is no such thing as too much and the more you take the better. As long as you follow the guidelines with the supplements and do take them all at once!

In fact the benefits are so many that it has been called the fountain of youth by many people.

Some companies are giving away free trials of resveratrol. It is a good idea to take advantage of this, so you can see and feel the benefits for yourself before you buy anything.

Valerie Rosenbaum asked:

Can Resveratrol Rebuild Body Cells?

Thursday, September 3rd, 2009
Larry L. Taylor asked:

Can resveratrol “rebuild” the cells of the body?  This article looks at the facts presented in the most recent studies.  Some of the advertising claims that supplement manufacturers use are not exactly factual.  There is no doubt that resveratrol consumption is good for you, depending on how you consume it, but it is not the only nutrient that you need to protect  your body cells and extend your natural lifespan.

As an antioxidant, resveratrol protects the cells of the body from free radical damage, the primary, but not the only cause of aging.  Other nutrients, such as carnosine are needed to protect the cells from glycation, which is worse than free radical damage, because it causes the formation of toxins, which has a detrimental cascading effect that includes further free radical damage.

To date, most of the studies have been conducted using cell lines in the laboratory or animal models.  Some of the information that you will find on the internet is outdated.  Recently, I read one overview stating that more animal studies were needed.  That review was 10 years old and had not been updated or replaced or removed, which is not unusual.

Numerous animal studies have now been conducted, as well as the studies using human volunteers.  One of the major pharmaceutical companies is developing a resveratrol-based drug to treat type II diabetes.  In the future, there may be numerous drugs based on this antioxidant.  For those of us that simply want to protect our long-term health, supplementation is the answer.  The antioxidant occurs naturally in red wine, but drinking more red wine is not the answer, for numerous reasons, including the health of the liver.

What do the studies show?  There are thousands of them.  So, there’s no way to list all of the results here, but I’ll try to cover the basics.

Bone Cell Health—in animal studies, adding resveratrol to the diet increased the animals bone density—in cattle showing degeneration of the spinal discs, the antioxidant slowed the degeneration—reduces inflammation

Brain Cell and Nerve Cell Health—may prove useful in treating Alzheimer’s, as it protects the nerves from free radical damage—beneficial in treating multiple sclerosis in rodents—enhances balance and coordination

Heart Cell Health—improves the function of the heart and reduces cholesterol levels

Cancer Prevention—protects against head, neck, breast, lung and prostate cancer

DNA Damage

According to researchers at Harvard, DNA damage is the “universal” cause of aging in animals.  The DNA within the cells contains numerous genes.  Some of them signal that it is time for the cell to die.  This is necessary when a cancer cell forms.  Sirtuins are molecules within the cells of the body that insure that these genes do not signal the death of healthy cells.  Resveratrol activates sirtuins, preventing the death of healthy cells.

Resveratrol Supports Body Cell Rebuilding

So, it does not actually “rebuild” cells, it supports your body’s ability to reproduce healthy cells and protects the DNA within the cells from damage.   For supplementation, your best bet is a multi-nutritional supplement that contains resveratrol, carnosine and the basic nutrients that the cells of the body need to function “optimally”.  For more information see my website on Healthy Body Supplements – Larry L. Resveratrol Use and How it Can Benefit You

Thursday, September 3rd, 2009
Elizabeth Ruby asked:

Have you ever thought about the benefits of resveratrol use? Resveratrol is an antioxidant that is very powerful at helping to combat diseases. Diseases like cancer, heart problems, and strokes plus other health concerns like fatigue and obesity.

Taking a supplement with resveratrol in it makes sense with today’s health woes lurking around every corner. I belong to a medium sized church with a prayer chain, and it never fails, there is a prayer request in my email box almost daily for someone’s health concern, mainly cancer or stints being put in the heart.

Growing up I belonged to about the same size church in a different city, yet I don’t remember the amount of prayer request for health ills like there is now. It seems like there are more and more diseases attacking more and more people. And I don’t think my part of the country is any different than anywhere else.

Please understand I am not a doctor or a health care professional, so don’t take this as professional medical advice, but as far as I am concerned resveratrol use and other beneficial supplements is necessary to stay healthy and enjoy a long life span.

You may have read red wine is good for your heart. What you may not know is it is the resveratrol in the skin of the red grapes that is one component of the red wine that makes it healthy for you to consume. I am not advocating you get all your resveratrol drinking red wine. I am just pointing out where researchers have found the health benefits come from.

A sure way to get the amount of resveratrol you need every day is by taking a supplement that includes it in the ingredients. The one I take has other great nutrients in it to help combat disease and keep you healthy, like CoQ10, ginkgo biloba, essentials minerals and vitamins, plus other herbal extracts. An added benefit is you get all of them combined for just one low price, as opposed to buying them all separately and paying much more.

Now that you know some information about resveratrol use, check out my web site. You’ll find lots of good health information there concerning nutritional supplements. You’ll also discover which one I use and why I consider it the best and where to get at one low price.

What are the Many Benefits of Resveratrol?

Thursday, September 3rd, 2009
Gordon Hall asked:

There may be many benefits of resveratrol, but one that you might find very interesting is that it acts as a “calorie restriction mimetic”.  If you’re not sure what that means, you can learn about it in this article.

For many years, researchers have known that restricting caloric intake in laboratory animals increased their lifespan.  Whether the same effect would be seen in humans has been an area of interest for quite some time and, if so, what the beneficial effects were due to.  Recently, a small study was conducted using human volunteers.  They followed a diet that provided 10-25% fewer calories than the average Western diet for a period of 3-15 years.

There is no way to determine if the diet increased the participants’ lifespan, but the health benefits were obvious.  They included reduced BMI, very low LDL cholesterol levels, high HDL (good) cholesterol levels, very low triglyceride levels, low blood pressure, very healthy blood glucose levels and low levels of C – reactive protein, a predictor of heart disease.

The benefits of resveratrol and other calorie restriction mimetics could be all of these. They might also allow you to live a longer, healthier life.

There are negative effects of an extremely low calorie diet including nutritional deficiencies, muscle wasting, weakness, dizziness, lethargy, fatigue, nausea, diarrhea, constipation, gall stones, irritability and depression.  All of these drawbacks were noted by participants in the study mentioned above.

But, we believe that it may be possible to get the positive effects, without the negative ones, by taking nutrients and other supplements that have the same effects as a calorie restricted diet.  We call those things mimetics, because they “mimic” the positive effects seen in caloric restriction.

The benefits of resveratrol that have been seen in animal studies include healthier glucose, triglyceride, blood pressure and cholesterol levels.  This is why some researchers believe that resveratrol explains the lower incidence of heart disease that is seen in regular red wine drinkers.  High glucose, triglyceride, cholesterol and blood pressure levels are hard on the heart.

Nutritional deficiencies will not extend your lifespan and will cause many health problems.  Even deficiencies in the common vitamin D3 have been linked to heart disease, cancer and osteoporosis.  Nutritional deficiencies are on the rise in the US, despite the increasing number of overweight people.

You can get the benefits of resveratrol and reduce your risk of nutritional deficiencies by taking a totally balance multi-nutritional supplement on a daily basis.  The best ones contain appropriate amounts of resveratrol along with over 70 other important nutrients and extracts, many of which are calorie restriction mimetics.

The supplements were specifically developed in an effort to help people like you and I live longer, healthier lives.  The ingredients are all natural, which is unusual, because most supplement companies use synthetic vitamins.  They’re cheaper, but not as effective.  We can only hope that the long term benefits of resveratrol will be realized in our lives, but there are some benefits that we have seen immediately. If you have a minute to spare, please take a look at my website now.

High Potency Resveratrol, What to Look For in Natural Anti-Aging Supplements

Wednesday, September 2nd, 2009
Dr. Valerie Rosenbaum asked:

With the release of the studies that explained the many benefits of the polyphenol found in red grapes people from all over began to search for a source of high potency resveratrol. Of course, the substance is readily available in wine, but how much of that can you get away with drinking? Trying to obtain enough of the substance through that method would also lead to too many other problems.

Scientists have been studying this compound for quite an extensive amount of time trying to unlock what its health benefits could be. What they came away with surprised even them, as the variety of ailments that can be treated or prevented through the ingestion of resveratrol are great. It is the list of various ailments that it treated that drew so many people to it.

The benefits that can be had through the use of a product that contains a high potency resveratrol dosage in it are immense. This compound is thought to be capable of not only preventing cancer, but of containing a mechanism that triggers a decrease of inflammatory cytokine, which will result in a reduction in the mortality rate for not only cancer victims, but those with cardiovascular disease as well.

It will also provide protection against someone who is regularly imbibing in the compound developing heart disease in the first place, and it also works to prevent any damage that could possibly happen to the arteries and blood vessels. Resveratrol also will offer you protection from free radical damage, which is known to be one of the major causes of aging.

People seek out high potency resveratrol supplements due to the fact that it is instrumental in inhibiting the replication of the herpes simplex virus, as well as helping to prevent atherosclerosis. It lower you level of LDL cholesterol while at the same time raising the levels of HDL that you have. It is also highly beneficial in the alleviation of menopausal problems.

It is also beneficial in the treatment and prevention of arthritis, and it is effective in arresting viral growth. There simply seems to be no end to what this wondrous natural ingredient can do, but as with all things it will not take care of every problem that your body has to offer. This is why people need to make sure that the source of their nutritional supplement contains a more varying array of ingredients.

You need to make sure that your high potency resveratrol supplement is surrounded by all natural ingredients that are capable of treating all of your physical ailments. This will require that the product contains a large variety of herbs, enzymes, vitamins, minerals, proteins, and immune system boosters that will offer you a full range of protection.

It doesn’t matter how pure it is, or of how high a quality, high potency resveratrol cannot do the job of keeping you healthy when used by itself. The other ingredients will not only treat different disorders on their own, but will also bolster the positive effects that resveratrol has on your health. There is nothing but good that could come of that.

Is Resveratrol the New Fountain of Youth?

Tuesday, September 1st, 2009
Danna Schneider asked:

Did you ever notice how the latest end all, be all anti aging wonder discovery seems to pop up and instantly disseminate allover the place in the media? One minute I heard murmurs about this wonderful newly discovered compound called resveratrol, and the next I saw it explode allover the internet, television, newspaper and magazines as the next possible wonder drug against that all too scary reality for us humans, aging and premature death.

The obsession that we have with aging and prolonging life is another discussion entirely in and of itself, and it’s an obsession that is all too indicative of being human and self aware. Nonetheless, it is a fascinating topic, and one that has drawn much attention, especially as we have become pioneers of our own destinies in some ways with the advent of modern medicine and treatments, as well as nutritional awareness.

Longevity is a huge buzzword today for marketers of products that hint at being part of the key to a longer and healthier life. I truly do believe that there are supplements we can take that can help us achieve greater health and perhaps a longer life (who’s to say until we are on our deathbed whether something really worked in that arena, it is such a grey area still).

However, I also believe that our diets are the real key to longevity and greater health, since the real food is always better than popping a pill. Resveratrol may have changed my mind about that though. Unfortunately, I’m not talking about the plethora of resveratrol supplements that have already made their way to market, but I’m talking about a company that is currently developing what they hope is going to be a wonder drug against aging and the symptoms of aging, like diabetes, cancer and other ailments that tend to happen to the human race more frequently after a certain age.

I watched (in awe by the way), a special that was run on 20/20 about two scientists who happened to discover that resveratrol was the reason that red wine offered so many health benefits, and may have explained the reason that the French, who characteristically drink a lot of red wine, enjoy lower rates of obesity, heart complications and tend to live a longer, more disease free life when compared to their non habitual red wine drinking counterparts. The reason red wine contains this compound is that it is found in the skin of darkly colored grapes, which are used in the pressing of wine.

When they made this discovery, they opened a research and development operation which has since been purchased by a large drug company which is interested in the technology they are developing. What is that technology? Well, Dr. David Sinclair, one of the two researchers who is working on a resveratrol formula for human longevity and potential disease fighting, says that they are trying to create a formula that is 1,000 times stronger than the typical potency you would get out of red wine.

Why so strong? Because the research they have done thus far indicates that in order for the resveratrol molecule to have it’s desired effects, which is switching on a gene that is responsible for longevity and continued health in older age, it needs to be 1,000 more potent than what it currently is in standard form.

The trials thus far in mice are intriguing to say the least (I said I was in awe, this was why), as they showed a number of interesting benefits in the mice that were treated with the resveratrol that the mice who were not did not exhibit. The treated and non-treated mice were both fed high fat diets, however the mice that were treated with the potent molecule had considerably less body fat than the ones who had not been inoculated.

This seems to point to a suggestion that not only could this newly discovered molecule be a boon for longevity and overall health, but it also may protect us from obesity the same way that a controlled calorie diet and rigorous exercise routine would. Could it also be a couch potato’s dream when it finally comes to fruition? Well, of course time will tell and human trials still need to be completed because even though mice have similar physiology to humans, many times promising mice trials don’t translate into human success of a drug.

The mice that were inoculated also showed a greater physical prowess, demonstrating greater cardiovascular fitness as well as endurance when compared to their counterparts. Post mortem autopsies of the treated mice had shown that their organs were still in pristine condition, while the non-treated mice showed signs of deterioration associated with aging and poor diet.

While this is all very promising, there is still a ways to go before this drug can be fully developed for human use, and there’s still no telling whether these amazing benefits will translate to human efficacy yet either. A conservative estimate before we may hear anything on this drug would be five years, so until then, keep drinking that red wine, and eating those dark skinned grapes as a regular part of your diet!

Resveratrol Review-The Truth About This Incredible Nutrient

Tuesday, September 1st, 2009
Ric Hawkins asked:

If you are like me, you\’ve probably read many a resveratrol review, and are perhaps finding it a little perplexing with all the different opinions. I hope to straighten a few things out for you here.

It is a fact that it is being hailed as the most promising nutritional discovery in modern times, in part due to the fact it can block cancer at all stages. Most resveratrol reviews you read should have stated this.

It was discovered over 20 years ago, so very new in terms of modern science, being found in the skins of red grapes, blueberries and the highest concentration in the Japanese Knotweed plant. This is the reason red wine is meant to be a good source as it is fermented longer with grape skins.

More research is coming to light all the time including how it can help protect against heart disease, Alzheimer\’s, diabetes and very importantly, extending life.

Many a resveratrol review does state what a powerful antioxidant it is, helping to mop up free radicals that can do so much damage. It is these that are responsible for cancers, loss of brain function and the aging process.

It seems it can turn of damaged cells, preventing them from becoming cancerous, while leaving the healthy cells alone, something that chemotherapy doesn’t do.

One thing that alarms me are the resveratrol reviews that state wild claims about how it can help you lose a ton of weight, seemingly without having to diet  at all! These are unfounded because although it can help as part of a good dieting regime by helping to burn calories and boosting your metabolism, it is no wonder weight loss aid.

These types of resveratrol review just detract from the main incredible powers that this wonder nutrient has.

Now I mentioned wine as a potential source, and while it is good, you would need to drink over a liter a day to start to gain any significant benefit! The obvious health problems that this could lead to counter anything gained.

Most experts agree that it is best taken combined with other synergetic nutrients in a multi supplement.

This is because when combined with green tea and turmeric extract for example, its ability to fight cancer, aging and others is greatly enhanced. You also get the benefits of all the other ingredients which help to promote health and vitality.

I hope this resveratrol review has been helpful to you and that you will make it a point to incorporate this wonder nutrient into your daily routine, and who knows, it could help you live a longer and healthier life!

Trying to Find a Resveratrol From Grape Supplement?

Tuesday, September 1st, 2009
Gordon Hall asked:

Shopping for a resveratrol from grape supplement can be frustrating.  There are lots of different supplements on the market, but not many good ones.  Here’s a short review of some of the products that are available.

The Liquids

There are several liquid brands.  Typically, they are marketed as “red wine alternatives” or “resveratrol for the non-drinker”.  Research has shown that the levels of trans-resveratrol in the bloodstream do not rise significantly when drinking red wine.  The same would be true with a liquid resveratrol from grape supplement.

In fact, most researchers are now saying that the beneficial health effects of regular red wine consumption could not be due to the trans-resveratrol content, because the content is too low.  They believe, instead, that the beneficial effects are due to the combination of phytochemicals, as well as the alcohol, that is found in red wine.  Most healthcare professionals believe that moderate amounts of alcohol (1 or 2 drinks per day) are good for you, as long as you don’t have a drinking problem or other health problems.

The Powders

The reason that a liquid resveratrol from grape supplement would not raise the levels found in the blood is because digestive processes (stomach acids, enzymatic activity, etc) breaks the compound down before it gets to the upper intestine, where it can pass through and enter the blood.  Powders would be broken down in the same manner and would not increase bloodstream levels.

The Pills

Researchers have tested uncoated tablets and found the same results.  There is limited bio-availability of this compound.  The same is true of other nutrients, such as SAM-e.  When they hit the stomach, acid breaks them down and they never make it to a point where they can be effectively released into the bloodstream.  Basically, they are worthless.

Now, if a pill has a good enteric coating, then it will pass through the stomach with the nutrients intact.  When the pill reaches the upper intestine, it disintegrates, if the appropriate enzymes are included in the tablet.  The nutrients are released, they pass through the walls or the upper intestine and the body may begin to use them as needed.

If a resveratrol from grape supplement does not have an enteric coating and include the appropriate enzymes, it is worthless.

Your Best Choice

Your best choice for supplementation is one that includes essential vitamins and minerals, in the most natural form.  The best value for the money is a product that contains a wide array of amino acids and antioxidants, packaged in an enteric coating to protect the nutrients from stomach acid.

You can reduce your frustration by researching effective supplements online, rather than trying to stand in a store and read all of those labels.  Most supplements do not work as they should, because the manufacturers do not use the best form of the nutrient or the method of delivery is ineffective.  You can shop with confidence for a resveratrol from grape supplement, as long as you know what to look for.  Hopefully, you now have the info that you need. Resveratrol Recommended Dosage-A Guide To Finding The Right Balance

Tuesday, September 1st, 2009
Ric Hawkins asked:

If you are like me, you probably find it bewildering the different resveratrol recommended dosage levels that you find. Well the truth is there are no set levels to work with, only guides.

Many companies out there will have you believe that if you take 200mg a day, you will lose weight overnight and the list goes on.

Resveratrol is a natural and wonderful nutrient, and no side effects are known to date, so you cannot overdose. But it is important to find a quality supplement that uses natural 50% trans resveratrol, as this is the most active type.

Resveratrol recommended dosage can only be estimated but from my research 20-50mg a day for adults seems to be the norm. It will perform even better if it is combined with other synergistic ingredients, like ginkgo biloba and green tea extract for example.

This is by far the most effective method as the combination of other natural nutrients will provide far more benefits than a stand-alone pill could ever achieve, and help to prevent a greater number of potential threats to your health.

You may not notice the effects immediately when taking the resveratrol recommended dosage, but if the research is right, and millions of dollars are now going into it, it could really help you to live a healthier and longer life.

If taken with a quality multi supplement, you will quickly notice things like improved vision, sharper memory and more energy as I have, differences you would not get from a single resveratrol dosage.

The Japanese have long known about it healing powers, getting it locally from the Knotweed plant and now we here in the West are finally waking up to the awesome powers of this nutrient.

The future certainly looks bright  as it is already being linked to preventing cancer, diabetes, Alzheimer\’s and heart disease to name but a few.

If you get the right resveratrol recommended dosage, in the right supplement, your future health can only benefit immensely, and many serious health problems can potentially be avoided.

Resveratrol Is Found In Red Wine And Other Non-Alcohol Beverages

Tuesday, September 1st, 2009
Doug Sandquist asked:

What? Okay, let’s begin by defining Resveratrol before we go any further. From MedicineNet.net…… “ Resveratrol: An antioxidant present in many plants. Resveratrol is a type of polyphenol called a phytoalexin, a class of compounds produced as part of a plant\’s defense system against disease. It is produced in the plant in response to an invading fungus , stress, injury, infection, or ultraviolet irradiation. Red wine contains high levels of resveratrol, as do grapes, raspberries, peanuts, and numerous other plants. The French Paradox — how the French live longer while their diet is high in fats — has been attributed to the fact that wine is rich in resveratrol.”

The most common plants that produce this are red grapes, and also the super food from Brazil, Acai, among other mainly dark purple fruits. Acai is fast becoming known as the super food as it is so full of antioxidants, in fact 10 times more so than cranberries and blueberries which are the best we have in North America.

In a very balanced article from Mayo Clinic discussing the benefits of Reveratrol,( http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/red-wine/HB00089 ), studies seem to indicate that this Phytoalexin, helps in heart health by lowering cholesterol and helping maintain well veins and arteries.

Start by doing some research on your own about the benefits of the Acai berry and also Resveratrol. Between the two of them it seems that we should make a concerted effort to getting some of both into our bodies daily. Unless you just like cheeseburgers and won’t eat any fruit of any kind. Of course those people probably haven’t read this far into this article have they?

Resveratrol is available all over the place, over the counter, usually in pill or capsule form, which is better than nothing but too often not that much better than nothing. Several vitamin companies sell it in one form or another. I have my own favorite, which is a juice derived from 18 other heart healthy fruits besides the Acai, with 30 times more Resveratrol then red wine, but do some research and see what you think is the best choice for your money, I did.

Have a heart healthy day!
